3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Quack-Duck (5921) - Down South, - AUG 30, 2011
cask @ the Anchor Sidmouth. Amber coloured- small head. Slightly fruty aroma. Solid malty base with a nice hoppy touch. Nothing spectacular, but solid and rather nice.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 stravale (574) - Scottish Borders, SCOTLAND - FEB 29, 2012
Bottle from West Country Ales
Light chestnut brown...frothy white head..reasonable lacing
Aroma - light caramel malts...very light citrus and grass hops....light aroma....hint of smoke
Taste - Caramel malts....very light grassy hops...bit of citrus...some toffee...bit watery...flavours a bit too muted
Palate - Medium carb....thin body....light tangy. Finish as main flavour but leaves a mouth-coasting of light caramel toffee.
Overall - Reasonable bitter...a tad watery....would probably be better cask
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 maeib (6632) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - AUG 18, 2011
Cask conditioned handpump King Billy Northampton. An amber coloured beer with a thin whitish head. The aroma is yeasty but there’s a little sour edge. There are light fruits in the mouth but otherwise it’s uninspiring with yeast the main element again.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Oakes (10184) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 30, 2011
Dull brown but with nice lacing. Earthy and a bit nutty. Light, caramel-accented. Straddling between a brown bitter and a brown ale.

Bottle. Bronze with a medium head.Sulphur dominates which is quite
unpleasant. Slightly malty but its hard to discover any real flavour.Might be reasonable in cask form bit the way it is bottled makes it hard to say anything positive.

Bottle Conditioned. Pours a murky brown colour with a thin head that soon goes. Plenty of smoke and malt in the aroma, the taste is smooth also with a hint of smoke and roasted malt with a dry finish. A very pleasent beer.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 imdownthepub (7473) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - MAY 7, 2011
Cask conditioned at Banbury Beer Fest ’11. Amber to brown with slight head. Slightly sticky, sweetish, caramel, toffee beer, palate masking, didn’t really get to the lemony bit with mine. Earlier Rating: 8/29/2004 Total Score: 3.3 Cask Conditioned at The Village Inn, Lynmouth, Devon. Brown amber with cream head. Sweetly malted light bitter with a lemony tart background. tea hops on finish, reasonable bitter.

Cask @ Tally Ho in Devon, which used to be a brewpub. Supposedly this is made to their brewer’s old recipe. Amber with nice lace. Toasty malt aroma. Soft and silky palate. Very much captures the character of a nut brown ale. Is very silky with nice nutty malty flavors.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 DruncanVeasey (5146) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - DEC 26, 2010
BC from Arden Wines (’Devon Dympsy’). Clear ruby, fine beige swirl, steady carbonation. Decent aroma that actually makes me want to drink the beer; plum and blackcurrant, earth, milky coffee- a massive relief after the pasteurised pisswatter I’ve been sipping of late. The beer tastes good, with notes of soapy orange hop, blackcurrant, lightly mildewed hazelnut, coffee, a wisp of coal. Fresh and slightly interesting- wouldn’t object to a session on it.

Bottle. Copper with a thin head. Aromas are biscuit and toffee malts. Rye with yeast and cookie dough. Tea and lemon with soft spices. Flavours are sweet chocolate with stewed autumn fruit. Yeasty with a mellow citrus finish. OK.
