1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20 Spiesy (2336) - Sydney, - SEP 4, 2003
Cask Conditioned, at The Crown, Lyton, Devon. Tawny/amber body with a beige head. Sickly, bitter – sweet aroma and flavour to match. Poor palate. The flavours in this beer just aren’t balanced. The locals seem to be knocking themselves out with the stuff (it was a Friday night) but I think the stuff is bloody awful. I hate writing bad things about beers but I’ve been left know option at this point. It did look the part!?

Cask-conditioned at the Summer Beer Festival, The Royal Oak, Bath 17/07/08. Deep chestnut in colour with no head. Sweet, fruity malt aroma. Flavour was also driven by sweetness with a touch of earthy hops and a short, dry finish. Ok, if not memorable.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 haddonsman (1234) - Derby, Derbyshire, ENGLAND - NOV 7, 2004
Cask at Devon Beers Festival, Royal Oak, Ockbrook. Chestnut body, rugged fruity malts in the nose, smooth sweetness in the flavour, satisfying bitter finish. My fellow festival-goer Oliver is a sucker for beers with his name in them; this one didn’t disappoint.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 SilkTork (4736) - Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom, WALES - NOV 14, 2003
Gravity @ Medway Beer Fest. Nut-brown colour. Nice malt profile with a decent brown sugar sweetness spanked heartily by a dark bitterness. A man's beer according to Chrissie. There's toffee and Cinnamon and just a hint of clove. Very attractive. That Spiesy doesn't know what he's drinking half the time - he's just a drunken Aussie!
