2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
I don’t generally expect much from cream ales (see Genessee) and this one is similar, but more complex and therefore more enjoyable. There was a decent hop presence, too, but not much aroma.

Someone brought in to Proof on a friday night. Wasn’t my favorite - peach and yeast aroma. Thin light malt and citrus - peas and tea - 5.8

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
(Old BA rate - growler)
light straw yellow (a little organge) in color with a thin pure white head. Light citrusy aromas, with some good hop bitterness. Dry citrus flavors, with a good deal of hops in the end. Not as much malt as I would expect, but this is great. Thinner MF and a light delicate carbonation. Not slick, and pretty tight. Hugely drinkable. Well balanced, and pleasant on the palate. Overall, this is not the most complex brew, but I would consider it very sessionable.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Very light body, darker color than expected. Also more hoppy than expected. Not a bad beer, but not great. The very light, thin body took some getting used to.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap at Andy's. Cloudy yellow orange, white head. This one is all about the hops....Hoppy clean aroma. Flavor is dominated by noble hops, with lots of them, but not being too citrussy as to black out the malty undertones. Too hoppy for the style, but that is what makes it good.

UPDATED: OCT 7, 2007 Oh, so you think Cream ales are boring and kind of avoid them whenever presented with the chance. Enter Climax Cream Ale. This brew will turn your preconceptions about cream ale on their ear. The first thing you notice is a whack of fruity aroma hops. I thought IPA immediately. Take a sip, expecting strong bitterness, and it is not there. There is a bit of hop bite on the tail end, but very little bittering. All of the character is in the aroma and flavoring hops. The mild cereal maltiness creates a backbone that allows the hop character to shine through nicely. Also, as its name suggests, it has a creamy mouthfeel and ample frothy head.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
(Sample Date: 3/6/2011 Source:Other) Moderately fruity with some spicy yeast and grain notes. Almost citrusy. Slightly cloudy light straw golden with tall fine white head. Fairly bitter with some fruity almost citrusy hop flavor. Grainy. Bit over the top for a classic cream ale for hops and gravity. Moderately sweet finish.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sampled a few times at "Central Jersey" beerfest. Unimpressive looking gold color, with a moderately hopped light cereal malt body. A bit thin tasting. Granted, its probably a tough style to showcase and expect ’blown away’ reactions. All in all not terrible, but nothing memorable.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: AUG 17, 2009 Half gallon growler. Golden color. Creamy, long lasting head. Aroma is very week, hops dominate over sweet malt. Light body, very dry in the beginning with citrusy finish. Reminds me of good eastern European lager. Not bad at all.
