Bottle from Blue Dog. Pours turbid early pumpkin orange with 1-finger white head. Nose is caramel malt, orange marmalade, hops, mild spice. Tastes citric, hoppy, with caramel malt, orange, spice, and a medium palate. Not terribly complex, and more of an APA.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 r464 (1113) - Earth, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 22, 2012
Huge foamy white head. Rather nutty in flavor with a strong malt base. The balance and hops that I would expect in an ESB just aren’t there. Not a bad beer, just not a standout in the style.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 callmemickey (795) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 21, 2012
A: Amberish with an off white head...
S: The smell is mostly malty, but has hints of caramel and nutty goodness..
T: Here the flavor profile is mostly flipped with the nuttyness taking the front seat to the caramel and sweet maltness..
M: Smooth and moderate bodied.. a little thin at times
O: Pretty easy drinking and has enough to keep interest for a second...
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 BREWMUSKCLES (1685) - New Jersey, USA - NOV 8, 2011
the brew that i had from bottle as pictured was simply a Belgian abbey. extra sweet, yeasty and full enough with clove and coriander. the brew even had a moderate artificial banana flavor. a deep orange murky brew as released from it’s bottle it was confusing due to it’s moniker. but altogether satisfactory with flavors of vanilla and caramel and a hint of hay malt in the near finish.

Jug bottle. Poured a copper color with white head. Aroma was bready, yeasty, malty. Flavor was heavy on the bread, with a mild hop character. I didn’t really like the finish, as it was a bit harsh and not very clean.

Tap at Rattle N Hum. Hazy amber pour. The nose is a little bit woody with a little bit of orange malt. A bit of dustiness and a fairly light body. A little bit of diacetyl in here as well. Thin and oddly sweet at the same time.

6/26/10. Sampled from a growler at the Tally Tasting 2010 courtesy hopscotch. Sweet and malty with a bit of soapiness. The flavor is minerally, roasty, and more. It really reminds me of honey iced tea. A bit strange...
