COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This hefeweizen is brewed with 60% wheat malt, and 40% barley malt, German noble hops and our special strain of Bavarian yeast. This beer is golden in color and has a destinct flavor and aroma of banana. A light, crisp and refreshing summer beer.

A really light hefeweizen. Slightly hazy pour with a white head. Aroma of citrus and wheat. Flavor is sweet but not complex in any way. Pretty straightforward.

Situation: a lazy hazy Thursday in June... Glassware: Konig-Pilsener weizen... Appearance: orange-lemon gold tint with thick, effervescent haze appropriate to a hefe...unfortunately, straight out the growler, the head flattened to a thin sudsy line, suggesting a lack of freshness or a lack of strength... Aroma: as expected, banana dominates with a hint of bready cereal--inviting to a degree... Palate: quite thin and sharply crisp, active on the tongue and the throat; busier and with more body than I had anticipated... Taste: the label says "distinct"--and the tartness in this beer is surprisingly strong for a hefe... intensity mellows with every sip, and the malt is a fortifying element... Overall: Trying to stay local, I buy a growler or two a year from Climax, and I hadn’t tried the hefe yet (must have been a recent add, considering the dearth of reviews). I like their take on the style, and though few will confuse this with a German variety, it cuts the humidity on this night as I hoped it would when I bought it a few days ago. Yeasty with a malt backbone, this works for me...

Draft at CAH. Pours hazu bubbly dull gold with white head. Nose is hopcitrus, malt, slight vegetal. Tastes of hopcit, malt, slight spice, and a bit of an off flavor.

Growler. Golden in color, very little evidence of carbonation. Somewhat watery on the tongue -- light mouthfeel. Lots of caramel, but fairly one-dimensional. Drinkable, but too flat to evince much flavor or interest to the palate.

Growler. Pours a golden white body with a foamy white head. Fruity wheat character, coriander, lemon grass, hints of spice and clove. Banana and bubblegum with a sweeter finish. Decent.

growler-pours a foamy to rocky white head and cloudy yellow color. Aroma is banana, musty wheat, some fruit-lemon and clove. Taste is musty wheat, some fruit-lemon and clove, banana. All the right ingredients, the taste just doesn’t come together for me. Not undrinkable, but one is enough. Fair amount of similarity to the cream ale and a home brewish character. Thanks to JWC215 for sharing.

Not my cup of tea. Banana tartness ruled this beer. This beer is missing the distinctive clove character of a hefe (this was planned by Dave Hoffman; no mistake) which makes for an interesting take, but also one I found I could not get my head around. Pours a cloudy maize with an ample white head.

Cloudy yellow/gold, with a white head. Aroma is bananas, wheat, spices, and yeast. Flavor is wheat, spices, and citrus fruit. Rather refreshing. Not a favorite style of mine, but this is not bad.

growler. Nice hazy light orange/golden in appearance with a medium to large off white head. Aroma is pretty nice: wheat, banana esters, light notes of bubblegum and spice. taste doesn’t live up to the aroma. Tangy wheat, lemon, and light esters and spices, although it seems pretty bland and watery. Still a solid effort though, as this is the first attempt.
