A deep dark stout with a thick resilient dark brown head. In aroma, light smooth chocolate with light berry notes. In mouth, a smooth powdery chocolate with light coffee acidity, a bit grassy and somewhat off. On tap at Barcade, July 1, 2012.

Bottle. Wow, a gusher. Lost a few ounces upon opening. Pours dark brown, with an extremely large brown head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malt, and some coffee. Flavor is roasted malt, chocolate, smoke, and coffee. Body is medium. I thought this was going to be infected, but it wasn’t. Decent.

Poured from a 22 ounce bomber. Pours a dark brown to black with an enormous khaki colors head. Too large in fact. Aroma is sweet and almost chocolaty. Taste is predominantly sweet and on the verge of infection laden tartness. Not awful, but not something I would want to drink much of.

Ridiculous amount of head upon opening. Then the head never settled down throughout the 22 oz. pour - an hour between opening and finishing. When the head finally settled down, initial taste is almost espresso-like coffee, just a touch of bitter. Hops come out as the beer warms, but not too bitter. Hops and coffee taste throughout. Enjoyable...

Blah. Pretty weak, boring and bland imperial stout. Aroma was actually decent. Roasted malt, milky and notes of coffee. Not very big but decent. Pour was a thick black with a thin tan film for a head. Taste was where this beer failed. It started with a muted chocolate/coffee flavor but then just disappeared. The beer seemed to turn to water after the swallow. The mouth was left bitter and a with a weird aftertaste. I’ve seen previous ratings saying the bottle may be infected. I don’t know if the flavor is just that off or it’s infected. Little carbonation.

Opague pour with tan head and lace. Aroma dominated by burnt coffee. Burnt astringent coffee and a bitter taste of pure cocoa. Sweet start with a hard malt bitter. Medium bodied but fizzy.

Bomber. Pours jet black with huge never ending, creamy, brown head. Aroma is of toasted malt, chocolate, and hints of vanilla and raisins. Body is medium, creamy and slightly crisp. Toasted, nutty malt, coffee, chocolate, burnt grain, earthy hops, vanilla and dark fruit fill the mouth. Finish is long and bitter. Not very complex or intense as other RISs but nice, easier to drink Imperial Stout.

Pours black with a medium dark tan head. Aroma has roasty dark fruits. Flavor is roasty with tobacco notes and dark fruit. Mouthfeel is light/medium...watery...and the finish has a cheap roasty fruity flavor. This is an awful impy...i would t ever try it again!

22oz bomber of infected beer. This one pours with all the tell tale signs of a problem to come, tiniest bit of actual pitch black liquid underneath 90% super large bubbly dark beige head. Aroma was still holding onto the brewers intentions, dark roasty malts, burnt toast, hint of espresso, but after that there was the distinct aroma that I like to classify somewhere between band-aid and bad cherry/strawberry that indicates an underlying problem. The body was only medium to slightly full with rather strong carbonation, a bit too strong to also indicate a possible underlying issue. The flavor luckily didn’t have time to be to influenced by the infection and was mostly dark matls, burnt toast, some espresso and a dark sugary chocolate note. Even without being infected I’m not sure just how good this one would have been, average at best I’m guessing by what I could detect.

22oz bottle-pours black with a huge gusher tan head. Aroma is roasty/anise/burnt coffee-dark malt. Taste is chalky, biting/astringent, earthy, dark malt-cocoa/ burnt coffee. Will hopefully find out this was an infected bottle and rerate (I had shared this too, ouch).
