Dickinsonbeer (2550), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Mar 29, 2007 Pours a filtered clear deep amber with a thinning off white head and some lacing. Aroma i spicy and phenolic with some light esters, - raisin and plum, dirty yeast, sugary sweetness and some toffee. Flavor is light bubblegum esters, clove, some vanilly , dark dried fruits, and a light malt presense. Figured the body would be weak and lacking, and the finish is a bit slick from filtration. Finish is also pretty abrupt. It is easy drinking, especialy for 9% but it just doest do it for me.
hellbilly (912), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Sep 20, 2008 bottle from beachbum25... pours a deep copper color. clear, yet it states on the bottle that thar be yeast at the bottom? it’s capped by a light tan/toasted almond colored head with bits of horizontal lacing. very odd aroma... sweet and sour... almond paste, caramel-y sweet malt, cooked pineapple and oxidized green apples. the flavor is again, oddly sweet and sour... super sweet on the palate (to the point of being unpleasant) with a vague fruity sourness (yet not enough to balance it out), mild bitterness, grass, grain and a light spiciness on the finish. alcohol vapor shows up during and after the finish as well. medium body from the left over sugars and a rather prickly mouth feel from carbonation JPDIPSO (4286), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Sep 19, 2008 Light umber to copper color. Taller beige head. Holy phenols batman. Pure phenolic resin scent with hints of dms. I am sure there are some more pleasant scents, but having experienced the phenol resins recently they are first and foremost. With a little set time some dark cherries creep in, but still not that pleasant to me. Sweet fruity flavors, with plums, currants and white raisins. Very little hops and just hints of spice form the yeast. Seems under attenuated and unbalanced. nqualls (422), Tennessee, USA Sep 16, 2008 Bottle. Poured a clearish orange/brown with a small tan head. Aroma of sweet malt and spice with yeast. Flavor is somewhat fruity with spices. Medium body with mild carbonation. jjpm74 (3155), Stratford, CT 06614, Connecticut, USA Sep 9, 2008 Courtesy of beachbum25. Pours brown with a thin white head. Smells of sweet malt, some spice, hints of fruit. Tastes fruity with some earthy hints and way too much residual sugar. daknole (856), Plantation, Florida, USA Sep 8, 2008 Bottle from beachbum25. Amber pour wtih a brown head. This is a very malty beer all the way around. Aroma and flavors give notes of malt, spice, fruit and this beer is a tad warm. Not bad.
