cheapdark (1532), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA May 11, 2008 Nice play on words. Friendly, rather sweet aroma. Very strong taste impact of alky and alky. Color of dark iced tea. Pretty difficult to swallow at times for a lager lover. Finish is cough medicine but in an almost good way. Nothing near the refined attitudes you get from real belgie dubbels.
Oakes (6793), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jul 1, 2008 Bright reddish-brown. Plummy aroma with sour cherries, chocolate. Fruity and sweet, some bubblegum, light spice. Some orange. Some nice nuances but too sweet. kevd193213 (295), Coventry, Rhode Island, USA Jun 29, 2008 Bottle. Brown pour with thick tan head. Aroma of fruit and yeast. Taste of brown sugar, citrus and figs. Smooth, sweet finish. wilkie (1045), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Jun 23, 2008 Bottle. Pours cloudy amber/brown, with a medium beige head, and good retention. Aroma is dark fruits and yeast: plum, raisin, coriander, candy sugar. Flavor is similar. Nice yeast/malt balance. Not the best of style, but palatable, and tasty. Palidor19 (1207), Brandon, Florida, USA Jun 17, 2008 Very nice, its nice and malty and strong but there is some type of wang that doesn’t work in the rest. still is nice to have. nick76 (1970), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 17, 2008 The aroma is like figs, raisins, yeast, and brown sugar. The appearance is amber with a nice head. The flavor is biter and like the aroma but not entirely pleasant. The palate is average for the style. Overall not one I would buy again.
