Commercial Description:
The beer is a dry Imperial Stout - creamy and rich with color as black as night. It has aromas of roasted coffee and dark chocolate, hints of molasses, toffee and caramel in the taste. Clipper City will produce only a small batch, so availability is extremely limited. IBU'S: 30 Malts: Crisp English Pale, Crisp Crystal, Chocolate and Roasted Barley Hops: Styrian Goldings, Fuggles Magnum and Amarillo

As Imperial Stouts go, this is among my favorites. I used to be a Stout drinker, now an IPA’er, but when in the mood for any kind of Stout, I certainly consider one of the best I’ve sampled. I had the luxury of trying this at their Brewery as well as tasting many a bottle while visiting Baltimore. While @ the Oregon Brewers Fest, I normally sample the IPA’s and Stouts, including both Imperial and Double versions. This ImpStout will compete with any other Stout out there. If you love plain Stouts, or prefer Imperial Stouts, this is definitely worth investigating. Yum, Yum, Yum! If in Baltimore, you must visit the Brewery, not too far from the Airport. Still wishing they would ship west!

Dark pour with tan head. Nose is marshmallows, and roast. A little heavy handed with the black patent (looks like it was actually roasted barley) Lacks the thick mouth feel I want from an IS. Pleasant, but nothing to go out looking for.

pours dark and seemingly thick, smells hard of roasted malts and chocolate. thin light tan head. thin mouthfeel, not quite as full as most imperials, almost a hint of smokey-ness.a quality beer nonetheless.

Bottle. Black pour with a medium coffee head. Aroma of caramel and molasses. Taste of malt and chocolate with a slight hoppy finish. A little thin for an imperial, but very enjoyable (and affordable).

Pours vlack with quickly receeding tan head. Sweet aroma of dark fruits and black coffee. Watery thin body for an inmperial stout. Alot of malt carmal sweetness, not balanced and definitly not and Imperial Stout.

My only quarrel with this beer is it’s "imperial" title. More of a stout, but there’s nothing standard about this beer. Aroma bursts of roasted oatmeal and chocolate. Not thick like an imperial but very creamy, smooth and flavorful. Taste is milky chocolate and malty coffee. Very drinkable and not sure why it’s not rated higher.
