Commercial Description:
The beer is a dry Imperial Stout - creamy and rich with color as black as night. It has aromas of roasted coffee and dark chocolate, hints of molasses, toffee and caramel in the taste. Clipper City will produce only a small batch, so availability is extremely limited. IBU'S: 30 Malts: Crisp English Pale, Crisp Crystal, Chocolate and Roasted Barley Hops: Styrian Goldings, Fuggles Magnum and Amarillo

Has a nice black color. Aroma is of coffee, malts, chocolate, and roasted nuts. Taste is pretty much the same. Has a sweeter aftertaste. Good stuff!

Looks thin for an impy stout, deep brown/black but it lets light through for some ruby highlights, no head, aroma is alcohol, sweet malt and deep roast, flavor is mild oak, roast, hint of chocolate, pretty mild in general, extremely weak for an imperial stout

12 ounce bottle. Pours a murky brown color with a small white head. A sweet fruity malt nose. Something almost sour there. The flavor is slightly sweet and milky but also sour and odd. OK.

A beer from JC. Chocolate and coffee aroma. Solid appearance for a stout but not great. Tastee is somewhat sweet, somewhat malty. Alcohol is hard to taste, which is fine for this style. A decent stout, but not as good as the Bell’s I had the other day - Kalamazoo.

Black, with a thin beige head. Smells nutty, with hints of chocolate and vanilla. Lots of vanilla, actually. Flavor starts off with chocolate and vanilla, but as it warms, there is also coffee and raisin and prune and rum, then even more vanilla flavors. Very smooth and hides its alcohol very well.

12 fl. oz. Bottle shared by lubiere (merci!), served quite cold in a goblet. BB APR 2007. NO 26/09.

App.: Deep brown-black with a small grey-tan head. Aroma: Vinous, organic acids, a touch meaty/savoury, some nice dark chocolate, minty herbals, leafy hops, lots of blackstrap molasses, light phenolic smoke, a nice brew! Palate: Medium body and effervescence. Flav.: Lots of toasted grains, some white grape, fruity, a bit of raisin, a touch smokey, some nice molasses, a touch bright, some leafy hops.

Quite an interesting brew, vacillating between Belgian and American.

(12 ounce bottle - pint glass) Pours a opaque dark brown almost black liquid. Has little head for a stout and leads to little lacing. Aroma has notes of toffee, caramel, molasses and roasted malts. Taste is smokey, choclatey and malty, there are also notes of vanilla and toffee. Thick bodied and has an oily texture. Not a bad beer but for an imperial stout it is kind of bland.

Bottle. Pours black with creamy head and smells of banans. Tastes like chocolate milk, vanilla, coffee. A bit watery for a imperial stout but went down easy.

355mL into snifter. Pours a light brown coming out of the bottle (ummmm) but looks pretty black in the glass. Certainly not jet black. Huge, creamy tan head that has good retention and leaves spotty lacing. Aroma is fruity with red apples, some rotting bananas. Oh yeah, milk chocolate, chocolate milkshake, vanilla extract and whiskey booziness in there. Taste is roasty, milk chocolaty with malted milk balls and vanilla ice cream. Great palate: oily mouthfeel. Yummy but a little lackluster. Blind tasting this I would put this as a cacao vanilla stout. Like a mediocre effort at reproducing DdC Aphrodisiaque. It is clean, simple, easy to drink. But a little boring.
