jb (789), Rochester, New York, USA Nov 20, 2008 Nice chocolate notes in nose. Light toasted grain, some coffee. Nice looking, very dark pour, tan head, stays around, decent lacing. Oily mouthfeel, light tingly carbonation. Rich feel to the palate. But not as rich as a typical imperial stout.
fordest (1904), Santee/San Diego, California, USA Jan 3, 2009 12 oz bottle. Dark pour with nice head. Aromas were roasted malt and other sweet dark flavors. Flavors were similar with hints of coffee. Not too bad. SQNfan (573), Wheaton, Illinois, USA Dec 28, 2008 This poured black in color with a moderate fluffy head of beige bubbles. Aromas were of chocolate, sweetened plum and fig, coffee and bubblegum. In the mouth it was medium bodied, sweet and concentrated with balancing carbonation. It was not very complex in the mouth but was rich and balanced. Goblincat (341), Westland, Michigan, USA Dec 27, 2008 The pour is quite black. Some chocolate and malt aroma, maybe a bit of coffee. The taste is a decent blend of semi-sweet chocolate, malt, roasted coffee, and a bit of caramel. A decent offering, not top notch, but pretty good. Slipstream (479), USA Dec 27, 2008 Floral hops, grains, and honey in the aroma. Opaque pour and bubbly tan head. Pretty bready for a stout, with some sweetness and a fair amount of acidity. Some smoky coffee and caramel flavors too. Funny label. A little light for an imperial stout, but flavorful and drinkable. Anchors away on another good brew in the Heavy Seas series. puggy211 (404), cordova, Tennessee, USA Dec 15, 2008 Black pour, thin tan head. Smells of chocolate, toffee, and roasted malt. Flavor is mostly chocolate, sweet malt and hops are trying to find some presence. A bit thin on the complexity and mouthfeel. Dry, chalky finish.
