jeff789 (33), USA Mar 28, 2008 A little subdued for a saison of this magnitude, can’t decide whether thats good or bad... Masks the alcohol well... Good entry level saison with a kick of alcohol... Not gonna wow you, but not gonna disappoint...
bretupdegraff (12), , Indiana, USA Jul 19, 2008 poured a yellow/orange with a slight haze to it. Large head that stayed true to my Tulip glass. Nice spicy but fruity taste with a lot of carbonation. I have not tried the saison style before but I look forward to trying others. posikyle (156), Alabama, USA Jul 18, 2008 Not the best saison out there, but still worth a pick up. Pours slightly cloudy gold color, with a thin head. Aroma is mostly spice with some fruits, taste is typical saison, with the exception of a bit of an alcohol bite at the end. A_R (277), Georgia, USA Jul 18, 2008 This is a hearty, full-bodied beer that is a good go-to beer. A spicy yeast flavor, it is not overbearing, but strong to the palate. blipp (599), Grand Island, New York, USA Jul 15, 2008 Bottle. Pours hazy gold with a white head. Fruity and spicy aroma, a bit of clove. Medium body. Flavor is very similar to the aroma, with banana, clove, yeast, and dough. Pretty good. jhumphries69 (497), Tyrone, Georgia, USA Jul 14, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a brilliant, deep yellow with gold highlights and a thick, though short-lived, white head that consists of very fine/small bubbles. The aroma is fruity and spicy with some perfume and grassiness, pilsner malt, and a little banana, too. The flavor is very nice and much more complex than the aroma - a rich, light malt base with touches of soft fruit, cinnamon sugar, flowers, hibiscus, cloves, and honey. At mid-palate, a soft, flowery bitterness emerges, strengthened by the flavor of ethanol. There is also a nice bit biscuity malt and spices towards the back. The finish is somewhat dry with a doughy, yeasty maltiness, ginger, spices, hints of anise, and alcohol. The mouthfeel is quite full in body and slippery, but suitably lightened by vigorous carbonation so as to feel a little lighter and more refreshing. Overall, a very tasty beer - but not quite dry enough or grassy/hoppy enough for a saison of this strength; more like tripel.
