Braudog (3463), Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Dec 5, 2004 Orange-red with thin, but sticky head. Sweet pine aroma. Wonderful sweet hoppiness here ... crisp and tart, a hint of citrus, but not too much. Superb beer. RCWCPACFP (102), New Jersey, USA Dec 29, 2005 I think I heard the distributor in central PA say that they will get this beer out all year. That is a good thing as this hop heaven balances bitter, flowery, and malt roast flavor so skillfully. LordHedgehog (144), Westminster, Maryland, USA Jan 22, 2004 Pours to a burnt coppor with a thick creamy white head, a head with significant malt flavor with hops and earth tones. Has a sweet, piney aroma. Gentle on the palate coming in, with lots of malt and earth, but a good hops kick in the hindquarters. The alcohol is noticeable, but only barely. An excellent American Strong. obxdude10 (1390), Reading, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 25, 2004 Excellent double IPA, amber in color with a generous off-white head, great lacing around the glass, huge hoppy nose with a little pine in the aroma, lots of great hop flavor in the body of the beer, good malt profile to balance it out, lots of citrus & pine notes in the flavors as well, mouthfeel was a bit sticky with resin from the hops, very smooth & drinkable
PhillyBeer2112 (1861), Orange Park, Florida, USA Feb 2, 2004 Orange-brown color, large webbed head. Clear hoppy aroma. Aroma enticing and exhilirating: citrus notes apparent. Herbal flavors dominate, possible woodiness. Earthy finish. A very "natural" and "rough-hewn" beer. Hearty. For me, sets the standard for what a "winter warmer" ought to be.
