COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pale, Crystal, Carapils and Munich malts. Magnum, Fuggles, Cascade, Centennial and Chinook Hops. This ale is pure hop power but perfectly balanced with a rich malt character. Floral and aromatic, the hop character is enhanced by the technique of dry hopping, a traditional method of increasing aroma. Available from mid-October to February.

A straightforward India Pale Ale: a lot of citrus hops, solid malt structure, but nothing really that sets it apart. The most memorable aspects are its amazing clarity, beautiful head that lasts through the glass and its profound bitterness. This one tends toward Hop Devil's direction, but veers off course, with its fairly standard malt profile and off-putting bitterness.

UPDATED: DEC 7, 2004 (12/7/04) Clear light copper body topped by off-white head. Aroma is medium sweet, grapefruit, some caramel, light pepper, spice. Taste is moderately sweet, grapefruit, caramel, light alcohol. Creamy medium-full body, some stickiness. I think I would like it better if it had a bit less sweetness. (7/4/7/4/14). (12/8/03) Crystal clear copper body with creamy medium beige head. Aroma is pink grapefruit. Taste is the same, with light caramel. Creamy medium-full body with light acidity. (7/4/7/4/14)

UPDATED: NOV 19, 2004 Nice hoppy brew w/a complimentary malt backing.Nice aroma of some cascades and possibly another variety or two.Nice solid off-tone head/great lace.Tastes like it smells(good)slightly nutty.I’m not catching the 7.5%(but I know it’s there).Balanced and enjoyable. If you like IPA’s go for it.Nice copper color w/floaties(bottled conditioned) I think this years is not all that great but still would be a nice homebrew effort.More of an IPA?

UPDATED: OCT 27, 2004 (Best by March 2005) Update. When I first tried this I did not like it as well as I do know. Much moore flavor has developed. Although, this is not an Imperial India Pale Ale. (Best by April 2004) (Tasted while having a slight cold) This winter ale has a big hop nose that yells out high alpha acid Pacific Northwest hops are in here. The palate is a different story though it is lighter than one would expect and the hop presence is leaning towards balanced. The finish is nice and malty with a touch of hops. I find this beer to be a good rendition of a big American Pale Ale or maybe an “Imperial American Pale Ale.”
