DrBayern (1135), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Jan 26, 2007 12 oz. bottle marked "Purchase before June 07." Coppery brown pour with a nicely sized yellowish tan head and some fair lace. Big hop aroma of citrus, pine and spice over a background of caramel. Medium/full mouhtfeel with light carbonation and a touch of astringency. Starts off with a rich malty sweetness, but this soon gives way to substantial spicy bitterness that brings on a long dry finish. This is a nice effort. MrBendo (1039), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Jan 23, 2007 Clear copper with a small head. Aroma of dark fruits, caramel, citrus and earthy hops. Medium+ body. Lively carbonation. Nicely bitter finish. Very nice. Nejhleader (924), Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 23, 2007 eh, I wasn’t all that impressed by this. started with a mild malt flavor, but then it turned into a bad bitter aftertaste. body wasn’t all that either. CelticBrew (676), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA Jan 23, 2007 Pours out a ruby amber color forming very little head. Aroma of malts, hops with a nice pine flavor. A very typical American Strong Ale. Clipper City produces another great beer product. Good beer folks! boboski (1095), Alabama, USA Jan 20, 2007 Clear amber pour, evenly dispersed carbonation forming a small, soft off white head with a yellow tint. A thin film of solid lacing eventually forms. This looks like it’s skillfully crafted. Aroma is mostly piney and fruity hops, with a decent amount of caramel malt as well. Flavor is more complex, showcasing additions of marzipan, tart raspberry, flowers and very course but sticky malts. Alcohol in the taste and finish is very hot. Pretty good, a little young tasting. Just underdeveloped a touch in the flavor department, otherwise quite quaffable. This is a beer that has parts that are far more exciting than the whole. wheninhell (485), louisville, Kentucky, USA Jan 16, 2007 clear amber with a nice off white head. good lacing. hoppy pine and caramel aroma. bitter pine flavor with a nice sweet balance from the caramel malts. bitter medium dry finish. medium body. good stuff. solid esb. MagooinPA (99), Warminster, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 12, 2007 12oz bottle. Pours nice amber, crystal clear with small tan head that somehow held on till the end. Nice lace. Smells like and tatses like a Imperial IPA but billed as a ESB. I don’t care what they call it, I love it. Nice malt at the end that lingers and overtakes the initial hoppiness. Everything this brewer makes is worthy, this is no exception. Sammy (3934), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 11, 2007 Extra malted and hopped ESB that has aroma of alcohol along with a bit of hop and malt aroma, is a bit on thin of mouthfeel and has cloudy orangey colour, but taste pretty good. Very dry finish and aftertaste. Could pass as a bit of a strong ale, more so than an IPA. thanks Dr.Jay.
