The aroma is a bit sweet and malty and taste is crisp hops but also sweet and malty much like aroma suggested, there is a nice lingering bitterness. It’s a fresh full flavoured beer, quite decent winter offering lacks a good spiny edge to it but decent enough. A7 A5 F7 P4 OV15 3.7 nuplastikk (1175), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 4, 2008 Updated: Apr 20, 200912oz bottle. I can remember having the pre Heavy Seas Winter Storm IPA, and the initial IIPA Winter Storm, but I wasnt even aware that the current version is an Imperial ESB. Brown orange color, looks highly filtered as you can still see through it. Big sweet malt profile, smooth hoppiness. Quality product, but almost a little too full bodied for the more subtle ESB characteristics you’d desire. daknole (2893), Plantation, Florida, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 28, 2008 Clear warm reddish-amber with frothy tan head. Lively fruity aromas wafting from glass. Lychee, pear, grape, then revealing a spicy hop background. Very quaffable mouthfeel with soft and gentle carbonation. Very fruity with alcohol dryness in the finish after a clean, earthy middle. jb (1034), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 26, 2008 Red color, little head, mottled look on top of the beer. Spicy nose, slightly fruity, but underwhelming. Decent palate, rich, malty, hoppy. Wonder why this one is a winter seasonal? And how does this company hide the booze so well in all their offerings? And how much does the catchy naming + art help me appreciate this? Strykzone (1468), Wood River, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 26, 2008 Pours a clear mid reddish brown with a minimal blotchy tan head and little visible carbonation. Faint aroma of hopped fruit effects. First taste is hops galore. There is some caramel sweetness to offset the hop. A touch of fruit and some bread. Bitterness is pronounced as is sweetness. Alcohol isn’t noticed. This is very tart, sweet, and bitter. An interesting combination that works well here. Palidor19 (1772), Brandon, Florida, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 20, 2008 12 oz bottle straight from the brewer. Pours deep straw color with a light creamy head. Grassy hop aroma with some bread in the background. Light toffee in the body, some corn and apple (?) in there. It is some kind of fruit but I cannot totally put my finger on it. Light for the alcohol in it. A bit syrupy but not overly. Slight yeastiness. Not my fav from CC but ok.
