Smells of mild hops with a decent malty background. Some citrus and a hint of some caramel too. Taste has a profound bitterness to it, as expected. Some hops, but a biggger malt base than I was expecting. get a little caramel in there as well. Not overly complex, it was mostly bitter. Finishes pretty smooth. Good beer to just drink one of. sethyeah (9), Ancona, Illinois, USA does not count | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Feb 18, 2007 Updated: Mar 29, 2007Ouch, friends. Somehow this beer manages to cause a hangover at first taste. "Headache in a bottle" is an approriate phrase I’ve heard. That said, it is still actually delicious. Beautifully clear pour with a thin, creamy head. Weak aroma to my senses, but a perfect mix of maltiness and tart... and hints of lots of other subtle flavors very well blended. Finishes with a pleasing dry citric zing-- and with a painful throbbing of the brain as expected of the finish from most "strong" beers. Otherwise a lovely drink. cvillebeer (134), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

The mouth is full and sweet, with a background bitterness. Slight fruitiness and a moderately bitter fadeout. So far the Heavy Seas line is impressive for it’s attempts, but somewhat of a letdown in the results. Still recommended though. swoopjones (1933), Buffalo, New York, USA

Ful hop bitterness somewhat balanced with malt flavors. Would like it smoother but I guess thats what makes it Imperial jeremytoni (1141), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA

Medium bodied, hops outweigh malts here, but not overwhelmingly. Christmas cookies with a bitter finish. Not bad. obxdude10 (1566), Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA
