argo0 (6167), Washington DC, USA Sep 20, 2004 Clear red-brown body with tan head. Aroma is medium sweet, caramel, some earthy, nutty, light anise, cinnamon. Taste is medium sweet, nutty, caramel, some earthy, light cinnamon. Some acidity, medium body. muzzlehatch (4425), Burlington, Vermont, USA Nov 9, 2004 Pre-tasting dinner with tiggmtl, CapFlu, Rastacouere, radiomgb. Sample, from cask pint. Murky dark chocolate, thick creamy lasting french vanilla cream head. Sharp nutty-spicy Mexican chocolate (hint of cinnamon) nose...a bit thin, but nicely fruity and nutty, sharp unexpected bitterness near the finish. MartinT (4316), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Nov 26, 2005 The Lure: Again, this cask is at the bottom or hasn’t dropped clear. Sad, really. Roasted nuts and thick caramel still create a nice performance, as vanilla sweetness and fruity esters diversify.
The Festivities: Too much yeast in a cask ale? Sigh. Bitterness comes from the yeast and hops, but swiftly turns into dustiness and roastiness. Where’s the announced malt sweetness?
Transcendence: Growing up without love. tiggmtl (4180), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Nov 8, 2004 Dark malts and sweet malts blend together nicely in the nose. Very clear brown body with ruby tones and generous tan head that coats the sides of the glass. Roasty bitterness is backed up by some citrusy lemon notes and a light caramel sweetness. On cask at the brewpub with CapFlu, muzzlehatch, radiomgb and Rastacouere. Radek Kliber (3302), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 20, 2008 On tap at Brewpub
