COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A surprisingly light-bodied ale! A blend of 7 different malts producing chocolate, coffee, and caramel flavors. They are partially offset by a nice blend of aroma hops.

Pre-tasting dinner with tiggmtl, CapFlu, Rastacouere, radiomgb. Sample, from cask pint. Murky dark chocolate, thick creamy lasting french vanilla cream head. Sharp nutty-spicy Mexican chocolate (hint of cinnamon) nose...a bit thin, but nicely fruity and nutty, sharp unexpected bitterness near the finish.

En fût au Clocktower. Couleur brune foncé, mousse beige. Arôme de chocolat. En bouche, chocolat, un peu de café, malt, herbes. Finale choco et un peu d’amertume florale. Très bonne.

Roast chocolate, nut, rasing and flowery smell. Medium brown with a little red hints with a thin lasting white lacing head. Light thin body witha little tingle - Goes down very smooth. Bitter ash start, grapefuit, nut dry malt with a bitter clean finish. Not bad. Their porter is better.

Originally rated January 2006. Sampled from the cask. Poured a deep brown colour, but still see-through, with red highlights. The foamy head was tanned and the lace left topped the brew for a while, and left webbings. Grapefruit aromas with hints of chocolat. Taste started off real fruity with grapefruit again, then went to a real smooth middle to then go to some small bitter finish. Roasted malts showed up in the aftertaste. Creamy slick mouthfeel. Not sure if this one was supposed to taste this fruity, but it sure was delicious.

I was actually expecting worse, having not had great experiences at this brew pub. Cask version, and it was quite nice. Some hints of coffee, chocolate. Good stuff.

Aroma is soft fruity barley. Has an okay dark copper body, but again minimal head which seems to be appreciated by the Anglo-Canadien brewpub establishments. Flavour is a weak mix of barley and sugar. Wet finish. It’s not the best for its style, and I dare say that they are thinning it down and not aging it correctly in the aim to get more out the door. Hit the floor, you could do more to score. Eh.

Tan colored spongy head, brown clear appearance, bitter coffee beans taste, mild carbonation, long finish. Not bad but the coffee taste is too dominant.

[on tap at brewpub] Toasty malt aroma with a touch of chocolate and hazelnut as well as dried fruit. Clear dark chestnut appearance with a patchy, off-white top. Chocolate and toasted bread crust flavour with balance towards malt. Low bitterness, very low hops character. Weak flavour in general. Light to medium body, almost clean finish.

Draught at the brewpub. Pours a deep ruby-brown with a small semi-lasting frothy tan head. Malty and nutty aroma. Flavour of lightly roasted malt, caramel, nuts and a light bitter finish. Average bodied, semi-creamy mouthfeel. Pretty good for a Brown.
