MartinT (4373), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Nov 26, 2005 The Lure: On cask but severely cloudy. Either this is the bottom of the cask, or it hasn’t dropped clear yet. Either way, this is pretty unacceptable. Gorgeous lacing though around the citrusy, wooden hoppiness. A mineral awkwardness emulates chalk. Oranges and flower petals complete the intriguing but scarred perfume.
The Festivities: A vivid grassy hop flavor is surrounded by veiled caramel malts and flowery fruitiness. A metallic dagger quickly ends any graceful effusion, as an unclean yeast mars the hop bitterness.
Transcendence: A lack of care will bring rust. CapFlu (3339), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Mar 8, 2003 Updated: Dec 12, 2003(Draught) Pours a thin, white head and a dark copper body. Aroma of roasted malt and caramel. Strong flavour of malt with a bitter, residue finish. Average Radek Kliber (3332), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 2, 2004 Caramel gold , small but thick head . Scotch-buttery like , woody malty aroma . Medium light body , smooth light malt with bitter aftertaste . Simple drinkable ale. Lubiere (3324), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Dec 12, 2003 Deep red colour, with a sweet malty nose with some butterscotch. Malty taste with a light hoppiness, but the beer as some acidic tinges to it (turning?). Sammy (3135), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 23, 2007 A decent beer for sure, with a malty profile and a tad of fresh gunpowder smoke in the finish. Modest bitterness, but it is there and makes the overall drinkability. Amber with big head, malt aroma. Creaminess in mouthfeel.
