COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Subtle hop notes balanced by a light body and hints of honey make this a refreshingly crisp light blonde ale; an easy drinking favourite.

Originally rated January 2006. Poured a golden colour with slight amber in it. The head was white and did not have much retention, nor lacing. Good fruity nose, specially light fruit, with undertones of grapefruit. Nice smooth taste with a grainy finish and some bitterness. Also, mild fruitness was found in the aftertaste, with some grapefruit and grain malts. Kind of creamy mouthfeel. Great session brew that was refreshing with a nice pleasant taste.

On tap at bank street location. Kolsch is not my favorite style but this was pleasant enough

Has a very faint grain smell; I wish Canadian brewpubs would pay more attention to the aroma! Has an okay gold body, clear with a little carbonation. Smooth grain flavour, with a creamy and hop-ish finish. It’s very drinkable, but nothing special. Proof of concept more than anything else.

On tap at the brewpub. Taps a bright yellow with a large white head. Painfully dull aroma of some faint pale malt, not much else, a hint of vomit? Definitely dulled down a lot by being served overly cold, but even as it warms there’s not much there nose-wise. Flavour is better, decent grainy sweet malt body with a subtle hop undertone. Feels prickly on the palate, and has a somewhat harsh edge to it that I wouldn’t want in a Kolsch, but other than that it’s decent. Had to wait for it to warm up just slightly as it was served freezing cold.

Pint at the brewpub. Golden yellow color. Nice taste, not too light. Crisp, refreshing on a hot summer day. Good product.

Drought at Clocktower Brewpub at Clarence street, Ottawa. Rich yellow color with white spongy head, slightly sweet hoppy taste, very faint dough aroma, mild carbonation, abrupt finish. Nice beer for an evening in town.

Draught at the brewpub. Pours a clear gold with an average size diminishing white head. Mild aroma of grain, light hops, caramel malt and maybe some honey. Simple flavour, a touch watery but still somewhat refreshing, of grain and light hops. Average bodied. A fine, easy-to-drink beer.

pours a pale yellow with almost no dead to speak of. some slight malts and grassy hops give the aroma no character at all. taste is the same. very light bodied and easy to drink large quantities. i suppose this is the purpose of this brew.

On tap at the Byward Market in May ’09. Good sweetness, light bread, not much else for aroma. Light gold, clear, meh. Very thick for a kolsch, very thick and rich but I don’t care. Bready sweetness, warm apple pie (very mild one). Nice light carbonation, almost medium bodied, sweet malt finish. Not sure at what point I was fairly toasted...
