Boutip (1745), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Sep 3, 2004 Cask: Light brown beer with average head with minimum retention. Good floral aroma with some subtle sweetness. Taste is quite impressive with again great sweetness and ending with some dryness in the back of my mouth. This seems to enforce my suspicion that that bitter should only be drank from the cask and not bottle conditioned. I’m a bit surprise by the low rating of that one and wondered if the quality is really constant. JoeMcPhee (3671), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Aug 19, 2006 Found a rating for this on a piece of paper in my wallet. Deep golden brown, thick white head. Woody and spicy hop aroma. Earthy lightly dusty maltiness. A bit of sulphur and a crisp minerally character that I quite like. As it warms some leafy tobaccoish aromas come forward. Nice beer. MrManning (1429), London, Ontario, Canada Feb 20, 2008 Pours a mahogany/copper liquid with a frothy beige cap leaving good lace. Malty aroma with candy and caramel sugar with a touch of yeast and fruit. Tastes sweet and bitter. Fruity malts with nice fresh bittering hops with thrills gum and floral hints. Finishes with a floral/herbal almost mint like twang, and I liked this one quite a bit. HogTownHarry (3175), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Jan 8, 2007 Cask. At the brewpub, 575 Bank Street. Cloudy pale-ish amber with a decent frothy lasting head - looks just about right, actually. The aroma is quite mild, perfume & floral hops, mild light roast malt (no diactyl, more on that later), a little bitterness in the nose as it warms. The taste is nice and bitter, hint of pinecone with solid sweet herbal and moderately funky UK hop character, enough light malt to balance it through the crisp finish. The mouthfeel is light, refreshing and soft, slightly astringent, with a quick bitter crisp finish - really a classic cask feel to it, if a tad thin. Nice and refreshing, just needs more malt body and wuh-hay! french tickler (473), Aylmer, Quebec, Canada Jul 11, 2007 Cloudy copper/amber poor with a thin head. Aromas of fresh malts and yeast, yogourt, caramel and wild berries. Good bitterness with added peppery hints. Excellent balance. Hints of ginger to the flavors. Very drinkable, creamy and medium bodied. Fresh..... and refreshing!
