2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 9/20
22 oz bomber split with TheRon. Badass label contributed to why I picked it up for sure. Pours pitch black with a tan head that sticks around. Quite the astringent beer. Makes it difficult to drink. Iím seeing people commenting on the burnt character, but giving it a 4.1... Aroma is initially ethyl acetate, burnt wood, some green apple, and for the first time ever Iím smelling something like hand lotion. Flavor is similar to a cigarette put out in a granny smith apple. Borderline drain pour...

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate molasses, chocolate, roast, fruit, light black licorice, citrus, and some faint burnt notes. It pours a dark brown with no transparency. It has a two finger light brown head that slowly fades to a thin film. There is some spotty webbing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate dark chocolate and light molasses. The finish has black licorice, citrus hops, roast, light smoke, and alcohol. Itís medium bodied with a somewhat soft carbonation and mouthfeel.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Keg @ Sedona. Deep brown with a small head. The nose is rocky road ice cream, rich cocoa, cream. Marshmallow. Invitingly earthy sweetness. The taste is toasted salted peanuts. Rich. Ashy malts. Mild acidic coffee ground. Dark chocolate. Quite nutty really. Hot finish. Full body, oily. Overall, pretty solid.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: SEP 18, 2013 Draft. Very dark, not quite black. Short duration head. Standard RIS scent. Taste is burnt malt , coffee, alcohol, dried fruit. Bitter finish, but not a hop bitterness. Didnít get chocolate or vanilla or hops. Just tastes burnt. I thought Iíd love it. I didnít.
Revisit. Multiple repeat tastings (couldnít believe I didnít love it)
If I challenge (saturate) my taste buds first with, for instance, a Yeti (my favorite), the B. Unidragon becomes a very sweet and very pleasant RIS and I almost prefer it. If I start with it, I dislike it because of the íburntí taste. After a Yeti, it meets all my expectations.

Thick, syrupy black. Tons of roast coffee and black malt on the nose, with a touch of smoke. Very similar flavor profile, a huge roast barley
Component as well.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
651 ml. bottle. Pours a thick, well retained, beige head, with some lacing, over an opaque, black (SRM 45) body, which has tremendous legs....nose is heavy coffee, lighter chocolate, hints of dried fruits including raisin, plum, light floral hop spice.....taste is heavy coffee, with chocolate tones, light plum, raisin, hints of licorice, minimal hop spice, ending with a heavy hop bitterness......mouth feel thick, creamy, lightly sticky, slightly astringent, alcohol warmth present, carbonation makes a creamy ending. This is a huge beer. The alcohol is remarkably subtle and well hidden considering its level. The malt and hop backbones are nicely complex and balanced, but dominate the yeast aromas and flavors. The ABV is a bit high for the style. This will age well. BJCP 8/3/17/5/7

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours pitch black. Palate is surprisingly smooth for a RIS. Vanilla smooth as silk at first with toasty hints and a good hop snap followed by more malt and roast. A all to well hidden 12.5% abv. Best RIS on the market. Clown Shoes is groundbreaking.
