4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
From notes. Sampled at screw city beer fest. This is like a a bourbon soaked coffee bean covered in chocolate. Some burnt oats and dark hops round out the balance. I want more.

Dark beer with a foamy brown head. Big molasses nose with some chocolate notes. This is a thick, oily Impy stout. Big sweet molasses and toffee sweetness with rich chocolate, sweetened coffee, some fruit and a lot of alcohol. Lots of grass hop resin bitterness. This is a big, full flavored Impy stout.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUN 7, 2013 Bomber poured into pint. Dark dark brown nearly black with a thin khaki head that lingers. Great lacing that oozes down the glass. Smells like malt, burned chocolate and some hops. Heavy mouthfeel as expected with a dominant char taste up front followed by a lot of chocolate. This is a good Imp Stout. Not overly unique but very tasty and worth aging in the cellar.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Russian Imperial Stout
22oz bottle. Bottled on 02/2012. Black pour, brown head. Long legs. Aroma of ashes, charred malts, licorice, chocolate, fusel, citrus oils, burnt oats, earth, wood, and light smoke. Tastes of Northern Brewer hops, wooded character, burnt grain flavor, dark chocolate, high cocao, roasted barley, charred molasses, rum barrel oak, lots of burn. Dry char character in the overall flavor. Finishes with some chocolate, mostly char. Flavor of ashes and char distinguish this as a Russian Imp. Thick and very heavy bodied, its a meal. Nice balance of the residual sweetness, dryness, alcohol burn, and hop bitterness. Not very bitter at all. Well worth trying, regardless of the popularity of the over-rated style of Imp Stouts. It’s another great Clown Shoes.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A very nice Imperial Stout, this one has a nice hop bitterness that balances out the roast flavor and gives it extra depth. Roast dominates the flavor, though the alcohol is very present and makes this a strong "warmer" of a beer. Very tasty!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours black with moderate tan colored head. Alcohol is very well masked, this drinks very smooth. Lots of roasted malt, good does of hops, has bite but not the ’sour’ kind. Enjoyed this and will find a bottle or two for the cellar.

Bomber 2011 vintage poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lingering brown head. Aromas of roasted malt, brown sugar and cocoa. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Flavors of roasted malt, bitter chocolate and coffee with a smooth lingering roasty finish.
