COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
What should we call our Russian Imperial Stout? Black Unicorn? Soul Dragon? Nohhh. Let’s combine them and create the ultimate mythical creature: Blaecorn Unidragon.

Imbued with a monstrous amount of dark malt and aggressive hops, Blaecorn Unidragon is a powerful and complex brew designed to improve with age.

0.65 l bottle. Black color. Sweet aroma with licorice, cola, . Sweet roasty flavor with licorice, coffee, burnt berries, bitterness and oak. Full body, a bit sharp carbonation. There is too much licorice, acrid roastiness and roasty astringency.

Bottle. Pours a thick and extremely dark brown with a moderate tan head. Nice roasted malts to the nose of this with some hints of coffee underneath. Just a tad sour on the taste, but the roasting really comes through. Great find.

The aroma has burnt malt and coffee with chocolate, molasses, hops, oak, and alcohol. The appearance is dark black with a medium head. The taste is like the aroma with a very bitter finish. The palate is smooth. Overall interesting.

22 oz bomber, pours black with a 1" tan head. Nose is malts, smoky, cocoa and a little vanilla.Taste is rich and bitter, mouthfeel is medium, smooth with a slightly bitter finish. A very good stout. I do wonder what this beer would taste like with some age on it.

Bomber from Winooski. Black with a creamy brown head. Roasted malts, some bakers chocolate, very smooth, light alcohol which is surprising given the strength, bit of anise, coffee, and smoke as well. Moderate carbonation, sweet, full body, bit dry, roasted malts, more alcohol but well balanced.

Bottle. Black with tan head. Rich roasty aroma, some pine, chocolate and coffee. Taste has lots of peat smoke, some chocolate, licorice. Heavy body, sweet with a clean finish. Very nice.

In bottle, thanks Sev! Pours a very dark brown colour with a fair tan head. Aroma of pine, chocolate, roasty malt, soy sauce and alcohol. Similar flavours with mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel. Mildly bitter with lingering soy sauce, chocolate and roasty malt again. A smoky ash linger also.

A solid if unspectacular take on the RIS style. As others have noted, it lacks sophistication, being in your face with roasted malt character and a fairly high amount of resinous hop bitterness. For the 8 dollar price tag, a not unreasonable beer (though I’d prefer Smuttynose and a few others, or obviously Expo Stout).
