3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Smells very dark and roasty. Almost a slightly smokey note. Pretty hoppy smell as well. Tastes very dark and roasty as well. Alcohol flavor is really well hidden by the roasted, malty flavors and the bitter hop finish. Age should do this one pretty well.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a half finger of light orange-brown head. Settles quickly with a little lacing. Aroma is roasted, dark malt, strong chocolate tones, mildly burnt malt, alcohol. Flavor roasted malt, dark malt, dark chocolate up front, with a pleasant mildly resinous hop finish, mild alcohol. Roasted and hoppy bitter that linger. Alcohol is very well masked. Remains enjoyable/approachable even as it warms. Soft carbonation, full body, and smooth texture. A very rich, strong ale, enjoyable.

Poured from a 22 ounce bottle, thanks to Craig. Pours pitch black with a dark tan head. The aroma of chocolate and coffee can be smelled a foot away. Thick and oily. Very toasty, chocolate and coffee. A balancing sweetness makes this an enjoyable treat.

From notes. Sampled at screw city beer fest. This is like a a bourbon soaked coffee bean covered in chocolate. Some burnt oats and dark hops round out the balance. I want more.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUN 7, 2013 Bomber poured into pint. Dark dark brown nearly black with a thin khaki head that lingers. Great lacing that oozes down the glass. Smells like malt, burned chocolate and some hops. Heavy mouthfeel as expected with a dominant char taste up front followed by a lot of chocolate. This is a good Imp Stout. Not overly unique but very tasty and worth aging in the cellar.
