What should we call our Russian Imperial Stout? Black Unicorn? Soul Dragon? Nohhh. Let’s combine them and create the ultimate mythical creature: Blaecorn Unidragon.

Imbued with a monstrous amount of dark malt and aggressive hops, Blaecorn Unidragon is a powerful and complex brew designed to improve with age.

Bomber. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, booze. Pitch black. Taste is a good bit sweet, dark chocolate, coffee, some bourbon, dark roasted malt and dark dried fruit. Extremely good stout.

Keg at BrewDog, Shepherd’s Bush, London. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Roasty, malty, chocolate aroma. Tastes similar, slightly roasty, malty, chocolate, some coffee and vanilla, slightly sweet. Nice Imperial Stout. Really liking Clown Shoes.

Bottle to snifter. Pours dark and murky with lasting khaki head. Aroma of chocolate, caramel, toast, and slight amount of bourbon. Taste follows the nose for the most part. The flavors are balanced pretty well. Also, didn’t really note much alcohol, even though this is quite high. Good brew.

Wow. Not at all boozy. Incredibly smooth. A solid backbone of hops against a sweet, strong chocolatey malt. Exactly what an imperial stout should be.

Pours inky black with lasting head. Dry cocoa finish, but it’s mild. No alcohol anywhere, which is crazy for the ABV. Slight sweeter bourbon at first, but fades fast into dryer but pleasant roast.

Keg at Brewdog Shepherd’s Bush. Black, no real head at all. Aroma is lots of chocolate syrup - mostly just milk chocolate. Body is light for the style, carbonation medium, slightly foamy. Taste - light roasted malts, citrus hops in the background blend quite well, chocolate sauce, coffee, no alcohol showing up. Good imperial stout. Probably better a bit warmer.

GIJOE (635) - North Berwick, Maine, USA - MAY 6, 2014
Pours thick, black, and syrupy with a dark brown, foamy head. The nose is burnt toast and yeast. Notes of dark chocolate and dark cherries. The taste is bitter with a huge burnt molasses, syrupy sweet profile underneath. Full bodied beast of a beer, with soft carbonation and a dark-roasted grain aftertaste. Impressive brew.

4/30/2014. 22 oz. bottle. Black pour with a tan head. Aromas of chocolate, licorice, roasted malt, dark fruit. Bitter and complex with a dry, hoppy finish.

Bottle; Pour is murky brown with a typical fine bubbled khaki head into this snifter. It retains fairly well with some light spotting present here. The is feint dark fruits, chocolate morsels, caramel malt, and cake presence here. Light booze here as well. The flavor profile reveals a more complex malt presence ; i sense some light smoke, chicory, caramel and coffee cake presence, with chocolate malt dominance. This is a pretty nice imperial, overall - alcohol presence is subdued for the percentage as well.

McNeillR (1221) - SCOTLAND - APR 28, 2014
Thick oily black with bubbly tan swirl. Charred marshmallow roast nose. Burnt toast with the carbon scraped off - oddly soft slippable malt. Silky strum of tickling carbonation. Salty sweet meaty thwack on the finish. Decent enough for the ABV but slips by too easily.

Keg, Brewdog, Edinburgh
