What should we call our Russian Imperial Stout? Black Unicorn? Soul Dragon? Nohhh. Letís combine them and create the ultimate mythical creature: Blaecorn Unidragon.

Imbued with a monstrous amount of dark malt and aggressive hops, Blaecorn Unidragon is a powerful and complex brew designed to improve with age.

I like the label. Props there Bomber into a tulip Black. Need I say more? Nope. Nice looking one finger dark mocha colored head. Good body to it. Spotty lacing and lots of ABV legs. Dark fruits, chocolate, char, fudge and burnt nuts. Lots of roasted malts. Very nice nose. Drier in the smell than I expected it to be. Coco, dark, bitter chocolate, dark fruits, some char and burnt tires. Slightly sweet and bitter. Quite smooth in the mouth. Then comes the hammer of char and burnt tires. Quite nice. Lots of dark coco and chocolate. Fruit sweetness gives it an nice feel as well. . ABV very present. Dry with a dark fruit fruit finish. Very nice. Big, bold beer. Like how balanced it is between dry and fruity. Good stuff

Year old. Pours black with thin tan head. Nose is dank hops, booze, dark malts, chocolate. Very creamy. Taste is lots of dark malts, chocolate, nice sweetness on the finish, I think there's a hoppy spiciness in there. Very solid.

Bottle, 2012. Pours dark black, small tan head that dissipates fairly slowly leaving some lacing on the glass. Aroma is quite roasty, anise, burned malts, cocoa powder, molasses. Flavor is light sweet and quite bitter, roasty, anise and dark dark chocolate. Medium plus body, lingering biting bitterness into the far finish. Some coffee ground notes as well. Solid impy for those who donít like sweet stouts.

Bottle to pint glass...sorry, couldnít wait. Dark chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, bacon, and must/dust. Silky semi transparent black with a 2 cm creamy tan head with okay retention and providing decent lacing. Taste is nutmeg, dark chocolate, but then it moves to malts and grains and a touch of black currant and pepper. Finally, thereís a lasting bitterness and smokiness.

Appearance: Oily black with a dark brown creamy fluffy head. Itís actually a neat color for a head...itís really dark.

Aroma: It has an odd horse blanket and old house aroma...not what I would expect from a RIS...it is interesting but again itís not what I would want in this beer.

Taste: Burnt acrid charcoal, some raw coffee grounds. This probably tastes like what a fire breathing dragon mareís mouth would taste like after a night of rampaging and partying. Again there is this funky horse blanket taste. Maybe thatís the point? I donít know. The initial roasted burnt flavors are there, and theyíre ruined at the end by the out-of-place flavors of attic mildew.

Mouthfeel: The mouthfeel on this beer is awesome. Itís thick, itís present, itís right in your face. Perfect.

Overall: Itís not something Iíd buy again, despite the awesome label art. It just doesnít work for me. Itís like some cross between a brett beer and a RIS.

Bomber, 2014 vintage. Rich chocolate malt aroma with notes of roasted malt and subtle hops. Pours black with one finger of light brown head with excellent retention and lacing. Starts with rich dark chocolate flavor with a silky smooth mouthfeel. Finishes very smooth with roasted malt mixing with the chocolate. Excellent stout!
