What should we call our Russian Imperial Stout? Black Unicorn? Soul Dragon? Nohhh. Let’s combine them and create the ultimate mythical creature: Blaecorn Unidragon.

Imbued with a monstrous amount of dark malt and aggressive hops, Blaecorn Unidragon is a powerful and complex brew designed to improve with age.

Bottle. Yes, this looks like a Russian Imperial Stout ... deep black with a reddish tinge, a thin tan overcast. The aroma is rife with sweet, bitter baking chocolate and alcohol. It drinks with a hint of fireplace smokiness asserting itself right up front. The roasted, bitter dark chocolate lingers in the back ground. Lots going on here, but doesn’t quite come together with the artistry needed to carry so much color. Then again, the more I drink the better it gets. (#4709, 7/26/2012)

Black pour with a dark tan head and lace. Aroma is chocolate and burnt coffee. Flavor is sweet chocolate and burnt coffee with a bit of harsh malty bitter. A dark malt bitter that gets better as it goes along. Medium/full bodied with good carbonation. A bitter that may last forever.

It pours pretty, dark with a nicely tanned head. The aroma comes off a bit hoppy. The taste is very clean, a quick dash of roasted malt, hint of coffee, hint of chocolate, and a nicely masked alcohol finish. I like this. Good job Clown Shoes.

Keg at Brewdog AGM 2014. Might as well start with something a bit special. Pours jet black, thick tan head. Big roasted malt and coffee aromas. Taste has something spicy, good bitterness. Oily and rich. Lovely.

Keg at the Brewdog AGM 2014. Nose is big oak, charred wood, booze and dry roast coffee. Dark brown caramel coloured pour with a lasting tan head. Flavour is composed of salty caramel, toffee, burnt sugar, oak and booze. Finish is bitter roast coffee. Full bodied with a silky smooth velvety palate. Very enjoyable.

Keg at BD Sheps B. It pours near black with medium tan head. The nose is rich, roasty, dark chocolate, earth, dark fruits, salted caramel and liquorice. The taste is smooth, bitter-sweet, dark chocolate, liquorice, earth, tar, charred wood and caramelized stuff with a smooth, chocolaty finish. Full body, fine carbonation and slick mouth-feel. Very easy drinking.
