From Winooski’s in August trip. Dark brown with big lace, with a mocha head. Chocolate, Cinnamon heat, even chile, roasty, hoppy. Coco. Good drinkability, softer than many bitter imperial stouts, they call it such on the bottle, it can pass as an IS.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
In short: A whole lot of burnt sugars along with roast and booze. Boring.
How: Bottle 22oz, consumed with many months of age on it.
The look: Near-black body topped by a tan ring of foam.
In long: Nose is typical big roasted black beer (burnt cereals, toasted sugars and all) along with distant wood notes. In mouth the beer doesn’t feel so big, crunchy texture, generous carbonation, a mouthfeel that lacks the rich corpulence of a good 10% beer. Taste is brutal. A lot of burnt cereals, a lot of toasted sugars, some booze, dry roasted almonds, light notes of dried dark fruits, timid oak barrels presence. There is the foundation of a good big stout but most flavor elements played second violin, the beer was dominated by roast, sugars and some booze. Not bad, just very very boring. It might be because of the vulgar name but I’ve learned the hard way that if you decide to drink a bottle of Flight Of The Pimp to honor your recently deceased co-worker his family will expel you from the funeral home.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy brown with small beige head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is roasted malt and chocolate. Thin mouthfeel with a strong roast and smoke with slight alcohol burn in the finish. A very good American strong ale from Clown Shoes.

Pours dark mahogany into a tulip. Mocha head with little retention recedes to mottle surface. Dark caramel and chocolate aromas. Thin and dry with sweet dark molasses upfront turning to dark chocolate and espresso in the lasting mildly bourbon finish.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle in a snifter. Pours very dark brown with a lacy, tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, bourbon, caramel and chocolate, and some bitter hops. Flavor the same, with a good amount of bourbon and a nice blend of the two beers. Smooth texture. A good beer.
