Brown Angel comes at you with three levels. At the heart the beer is layer upon layer of pure, delicious malt. Columbus and Amarillo hops add an intense hop presence while a final layer of East Kent Goldings delivers a delicate floral finish. This is NOT your old school brown, but a rather sexy American interpretation.

The aroma is hops and earthy malts. The flavor is mixture of decently bitter hop bite and a caramel malt backbone. A pretty good brown ale, decently balanced.

22 oz. bottle served in snifter- served an almost transparent very darkened brown with hints of ruby shading, solid foamy off tan head formed, laced- soft, yet firm, like booty. Thick aroma of raisons, plums, dark caramel, slightly roasted malt, with hops trying to make itself know amongst the crowd. Hits the mouth with wide and lucious body, malt was slightly sweetened but seems to be cut with chocolate, middle holds up fine, finish winks at you wanting to you try more. I donít see whatís so offensive about the label- perhaps itís for the snots that donít know how to use their equipment- 2 minute miracle men and "layers" combined. Being in several interracial relationships during the course of my life, one was one of the best lovers I ever had. Almost 10 years after those times, I still get a smile about some of the stuff we did... DAMN itís hot in here... thanks for the memories, and damn good beer!!!

22oz. Bottle: Aroma of malt, cocoa, hops, pine, roasting, and toasting. Poured brown in color with a large, foamy, dense, rocky, brown head that diminished but lasted throughout. Hazy. Sparkling. Excellent lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet and medium bitter. Tastes of malt, roasting, hops, pine, toasting, resin, and some cocoa and caramel. Medium body. Tingly, then dry texture. Average to slightly lively carbonation. Malt, hops, pine, resin, toasting, finish is lightly sweet and medium butter. 7%ABV is completely hidden throughout.

Pours out a moderate brownish color with a small white head. Aroma is of light hops, some lingering sweetness, caramel and some nutty notes. Taste is caramel, toffee, sweet dessert bread, and a nice bitterness on the finish. Solid brew.

bottle. deep brown pour with a medium sized, whipped tan head. nose of caramel and nuts but not as brown as it looks. notes of cola. flavor has light nuts and caramel with handful of melted milk chocolate. i do like the chocolate flavors, but i really like more nutty/toasted notes in browns. the floral finish pretty nice. overall, i like the idea but a few tweaks would work better for me personally. one of their better offerings though.

22 oz bomber from another trade with simth4498, thanks Jason. Poured an ugly muddy orange/brown with a tiny foamy beige head. Aroma reminds me of a black IPA with the strong hop prescence over a solid malt body. Citrus hops, yellow grapefruit meat, tootsie roll, brown toast crust. Flavor of chocolate, tootsie roll, hard roll, citrus rind, grapefruit. Nice body with stonger carbonation over a slightly watery body, strong biter finish that lingers. This is yet another good beer from Clown Shoes.
