Brown Angel comes at you with three levels. At the heart the beer is layer upon layer of pure, delicious malt. Columbus and Amarillo hops add an intense hop presence while a final layer of East Kent Goldings delivers a delicate floral finish. This is NOT your old school brown, but a rather sexy American interpretation.

The bottle opened with a gush and intense foaming ensued. Poured quickly, the glass filled with an off-white head that slowly settled down to form a dense dark brown body below. Rich, roast malt aroma, nutty and toasted malts. The flavor is a mellow version of this beer’s aroma that has added in, a hop dryness. A well crafted beer, but I would prefer less hop presence.

Bottle at DØE tasting. Clear redbrown with a light brown head. Aroma moderate+ malty (caramel, roasted, dark chocolate), hoppy (citrus and floral). Flavor moderate+ sweet, medium bitter. Medium body. Nice.

Fucken sexy ass label on this bottle. Hazy brown color/ lasting tan head. Nice chocolate, pine sap, nutty aromas. Smooth medium body. Pine, citrus hoppy flavors with milk chocolate coated peanuts, smooth lightly bitter finish--good

Bomber from Premiere. A sweet aroma. Enormous soapy head, lacey. Long bitter finish. In a word: nutty brown. Very drinkable Hops and malting is so balanced. Better than its rating in the sense that I would serve this regular to people if available down the street. Great for the style.

Caramel, chocolate, nuts, toast, floral, spruce, and earthy scents treat the nostrils. It filled my dimpled Hofbrau mug a deep brown, topped with rocky tan head. The taste enforces the aroma, with mild sweetness followed by mild bitterness. About as fine a brown ale as I have tried.

Pours a hazy dark brown color with golden orange edges and a 1.5 finger light beige head that slowly settles into a lasting ring. Spots of lacing left behind. Sweet malt aroma that’s slight roasty with a prominent chocolate presence. There’s also some caramel, toffee, toast and hazelnut. In addition there is a strong floral hop character. Slightly earthy and resinous with pine, buds and grass. Nice. Medium bodied with a blast of dry earthy hops which are slightly dry and bitter but not overpowering. The floral hop flavor lingers over the sweet notes into a subtle dry finish. Underneath there is a prominent silky malt character with lots of chocolate flavor. Slightly roasted with caramel, toffee, toast and nut. Pretty complex and decently balanced. The hops could be toned down a bit so that the malt character can shine but other than that it’s pretty good.

Bottle; Pour is murky brown with a hint of amber; an off white head on the average side in this glass - average, spotty lacing is present here. The nose is mild - mild hops and a mild chocolate malt note. The flavor profile is bready malts, cocoa, a mild bitter hop note ; this is a decent brown - but a bit boring.

Bottle pours thin medium brown with lasting tan head. Aromas are chocolate and hops. Taste is cocoa and roasted malt, nice hop balance so it is not sweet. Body is light, spotty lacing. A very good brown ale, would happily drink it again.

On tap @ RnH. Dark brown pour w red hue. Small to medium off-white head. Aroma is of hops, unroasted nuts like almonds and sweetbread or pumpernickel. I think of a bakery when first walking in. Palate is smooth with light nuttiness and no roast, a big plus in the style for me. Some dried fruit even -- maybe a remnant of the last offering, but I taste it. Easy to drink.
