Pours clear slightly red-tinged deep amber with two fingers of loose beige head, great retention, moderate lacing (5/5). Nose is caramel malt, mild coffee, chocolate nibs, piney and citrus hops. (8/10). Taste is mild sweet malt, moderate bitter (8/10). Medium to full body, soft sustained carbonation, with a lingering bitter finish (4/5).
Yeah, that’s a sexy brown ale. Far more hop character than a traditional brown ale. The malty character is present, but tempered by both the coffee and chocolate, as well as the piney and citrusy hops. Definitely more interesting than the traditional English brown. (15/20)

A nice brown color with small cream head. Crisp floral aroma. Taste is far more hops than malt. Missed the style, more Double IPA than Double Brown

"Pretty nice robust hoppy brown. Looks like your average brown ale but there’s more chocolate, coffee, and bitterness than usual. The citrusy American hops are a little odd, but it kinda works."

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 19/20
Pours a light chocolate color tinted with a dark fruit. A light mocha colored head with a spotty lacing. A nutty mild chocolate aroma with a background of some light citrus hops. At first sip a nice creaminess is present with a tropcal note full of carbonation on the tongue. As it settles the chocolate mouthfeel takes over with a very small chocolate taste. The darker flavors that come later are a bit overpowered from the original hoppy taste and feel. A lemon flavor comes in at the end that is almost lemon tea flavored. Not sure if this one is particularly to style exactly but oh well. A very weird brew but I did enjoy it. I knew there was a reason I grabbed this one. Clown Shoes definitely keeps me guessing.
