3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at Mr Hangover’s 2014 Nieuwjaarsborrel, Den Haag and supplied by the Bier Koning, Amsterdam. Poured a hazy medium brown with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is yeast slight acid malt. Very unusual. The flavour is moderate acid sour light bitter with a smooth malty hop acidic palate. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. Rather unusual, rather funky. It’s an unusual taste but it grew rapidly on me.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle @ Nieuwjaarsborrel 2014, courtesy of jmgreenuk. Pours a clear light brown beer with a small brownish head on top. Aroma of coffee, malt, caramel and some slight boozy touches. Flavor is medium sweet with some bitter coffee notes in there. Alchohol is very well hidden and barely noticeable. Some light sourness in the very aftertaste, but that is mostly ground coffee. Quite a nice beer. Nice.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Clown Shoes Brown Angel has a thick, soapy, cream-colored head, a hazy, standard brown appearance, and splotchy lacing left behind. The aroma is of cream, deep-roasted barley malt, brown bread crust, and a slight maraschino cherry note. Taste is of all those things, with a notable alcohol pick-up and even stronger deep red cherry. Tea tannin shows itself, and a straight-forward bitterness is detected. Mouthfeel is heavy medium and somewhat slick, and Clown Shoes Brown Angel finishes wet, rich, a little boozy, interesting, and delicious. Overall, this is a must-buy beer! RJT

From a tap. Small but very creamy-looking head, inviting dark brown color. Not much of an aroma, but a nice flavor with malts and nuttiness. As creamy as it looks.
