3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
@ Vino Bellissimo / Lima OH --- Slightly hazy dark brown with a rocky 1" tan head, stripes of lace. Taste is full flavored malt that adds touches of coffee and chocolate as it moves through a mildly hopped palate. The finish is pleasantly chalky-bitter with coffee. Uncomplicated, easy to drink, balanced, recommended.

From a 1 pint bottle. Roasted malt aroma, deep brown colour, pleasant hops fruit flavours and malt smoothness, subtle hints of coffee and chocolate. I really like this beer, I’d happily drink it all day.

Bombe bottle poured a hazy brown hue w/ huge tan frothy lasting head. Moderate aromas of roast, floral hop, and caramel. Initial flavor is moderate sweet w/ a light bitter finish of moderate duration. Tastes are roasted malts, brown sugar, caramel made right up to the point before being burnt. Medium bodied and slight watery mouthfeel.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
A solid brown ale. Aroma was almost winelike for some reason. Also had big malty notes. Toffee and burnt caramel. Pour was a nice deep dark brown with a one finger light tan head. Taste was big and malty at first. All the strong toffee and chocolate flavors were quickly washed away by strong bitter hops in the finish. Perfectly balanced beer that almost borders a black IPA. Nice beer.

Bottle into Teku glass. Pours a beautiful dark brown/red, nice 1 finger creamy light brown head. Bread, nuts, some chocolate maybe, toffee and even some sour brett maybe? Very nice balance between sweet and sour/dry, light sweet/sour, with perfect bitter close and lingering subtle maltiness. Very enjoyable DBA, would buy again.

Bomber. Nose is nutty and chocolaty, roasty under a blanket of American hops. Pours dark brown with a sudsy, creamy large light brown head. Medium body, taste is semi-dry, pleasant roast with lots of woody, slight ash, nice nuts, and gentle warmth. Nice malt depth and richness, soft and yet mildly prickling, strikes a nice balance between sweet and dry. Floral hops with pine and light earth, light citrus and strong hop spice, only mild bitterness but tons of hoppy essence. Really wonderful balance in all its facets and probably the only brown ale I’d repeat from a bomber.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Location: 22 oz bottle at Backstreet Cafe, 2/26/14
Aroma: The nose is malty, nutty, some roast, bread, brown sugar, fruit, and some hoppy notes
Appearance: It pours a dark reddish-brown color with a tan head and a decent amount of lace
Flavor: The hops come out more in the flavor, malty, roasty, and a little sweet, with a bitter close
Palate: The body is medium-plus, it has a smooth, roasty feel, and a pretty dry finish
This is a really nice example of a brown with a good mix of malty components balanced out by a pretty decent hop bitterness. Good stuff.

Bottle - Malty toffee with a bit of chocolate roast. Deep brown with a very rich brown head. Lots of malts, quickly followed by a ton of hops. Bitterness near the end and a bit of flavor. Decent.
