COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brown Angel comes at you with three levels. At the heart the beer is layer upon layer of pure, delicious malt. Columbus and Amarillo hops add an intense hop presence while a final layer of East Kent Goldings delivers a delicate floral finish. This is NOT your old school brown, but a rather sexy American interpretation.

It pours a deep brown color. The body is a dark brown with a light cream colored head with some nice thick ringy lacing. The smell is all about the nuts and roasty chocolates with some slight caramels backing that up. A bit of brown sugar comes in with the hops telling you that this is a beer. The taste is superb with a roasty, sweet, malty, caramel, chocolate flavor. The nuttiness powers through into the taste. The palate is about a medium with a great balance between wet and dry around the tongue. It is very smooth and creamy, just like any Brown should be. Overall, this is superior for its style and spectacular to me.

Bottle. Dark brown with large tan head. Extremely carbonated (infection?). Aroma of toasted malts and floral hops. Medium body with hop bitterness upfront, some caramel notes, and a slight malt sweetness.

Brouwerij (501) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUN 9, 2013
Bottle. Pours a clear brown with fine tan head, settles quickly with some thin lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, with significant hops. Flavor is roasted malt up front, chocolate, fading into a resinous hop finish, mild chocolate, roast finish. Slightly roasted, mildly hoppy aftertaste. Hoppier than I had expected, but not overpowering. Soft to moderate carbonation, medium body, mildly smooth texture, and oily finish. A pleasant, mildly roasted and hoppy brown ale, tasty.

650.6 ml. bottle. Pours a moderate, well retained, light beige head, with some lacing, over a clear brown (SRM 30) body.....nose is heavy chocolate, cocoa, lighter coffee, hints of toffee/caramel, fruit, light hop.....taste is chocolate, coffee, herbs, hints of toffee/caramel, finishing with a moderate lingering hop bitterness.....mouth feel medium, slightly astringent, carbonation adds light acidity. This is a very well done American Brown Ale. It is nicely balanced between the rich roasted malt backbone, and the delicate English hop finish. The whole thing was done with a deft hand with the only flaw being the very high alcohol. BJCP 8/3/16/5/8

Bomber from greens. A bit of red fruit and syrup in the aroma. Sweet and viscous full bodied flavor. Touch of some light bitterness on the finish and a peppery spice working throughout. Somewhat unique tale on the style with the hop profile

On tap at Black Bottle Brewery. Brown appearance with a tan head. The aroma is caramel malts, sweet chocolate, light coffee and light roast. Similar flavor, fairly malty and sweet with lightly bitter hops and light citrus. Pretty light body with a soft feel and a clean floral finish. Pretty smooth and tasty, easy to drink.

Bottle. Poured clear dark brown color with an average to large frothy tan head that lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate complex toasted malt and floral hop aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted bittersweet flavor with a solid bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid complex beer.

On tap @ Radio Maria. Medium brown, hazy, copper highlights. Chocolate and caramel dominate the aroma, but the hops take more credit in the palate. A decent hoppy brown.

Unclear Brownish amber. Medium frothy off-white head, lasting with some lace. Malty, bready, caramel, nutty, rusty. Medium to light body, sweet, light citrus, nutty, little dry. Sorta tangy I guess.
