Brown Angel comes at you with three levels. At the heart the beer is layer upon layer of pure, delicious malt. Columbus and Amarillo hops add an intense hop presence while a final layer of East Kent Goldings delivers a delicate floral finish. This is NOT your old school brown, but a rather sexy American interpretation.

bottle courtesy of gen0sis, thank you! pours a crisp dark amber to light brown with a medium off white head. aroma has a ton of very nice hops, the hop profile is great throughout this brew. some light caramel, doughy and cinniamon roll notes balance the already balanced hop bill. the taste is too match, with a bit more maltiness present throughout, especially in the front. there are sweet syrupy notes in the back, and the hops are very pleasent. the aftertaste is a nice balance of light, sweet caramel maltiness and moderately bitter hop oils. the palate is great, fuller than expected, nice creamyness, oils and dryness, and goes down very very smooth. great stuff, hope to see this around more.

I really like this beer. Iím not a huge brown ale guy but, I do enjoy them. This one is special because itís essentially and IBA - India Brown Ale. All the best qualities of a brown ale, and the hoppiness of a great IPA. Bottle. Aroma has lots of chocolate and coffee notes. Taste is the same but, with a big old taste of citrus hops. Just a wonderful mix of the two. Nice hoppy finish with a taste of chocolate on your tongue making you wanting more. Iíve had the style before but, this is a standout. Iíd get it again in a minute!

Poured from a 22 to a pint glass, it pours a deep brown with thick tan creamy head. Aroma is nutty and sweet, with a roasty nutty chocolate flavor. Not generally a fan of brown ales, this is very creamy, smooth and an easy drink. Taste is smoky, somewhat burnt nutty, malty flavor that is very smooth. One of the better brown ales I have tried to date.

Bottle from Vinoís. Pours a beautiful brown colour which shines an amber red colour in the light. Thick yellowish, light tan head and a hoppy pine aroma balanced very nicely with coffee, chocolate and roasty malt. Hops are quite upfront again flavour-wise with pine, pineapple and grapefruit leading into roast espresso coffee. Quite bitter with lingering alcohol, roasty malt and coffee again. Very tasty!

Bottle. Brown pour with tan head and a lot of lacing. Smells of roasted and sweet malts and slight hops. Tastes of the same with dark chocolate and coffee notes. Very good and complex brown. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Drank out of 22oz bomber. Pours dark brown with a thin beige head. The nose has aromas of brown malt, toffee, nuts, chocolate. Mild toffee sweetness with a burst of roastiness and nuttiness from the malts. The body is light to medium with strong carbonation. The hops and malt roastiness are extremely well balanced. I pick up on some nice hop aroma on the backbone of is beer as well. Overall, a great beer with just the right amount of complexity.

Deep brown color, and a thin head that stays around a while. Hoppy for a brown ale, but not overly so.

Bottle into Teku glass. Pours a beautiful dark brown/red, nice 1 finger creamy light brown head. Bread, nuts, some chocolate maybe, toffee and even some sour brett maybe? Very nice balance between sweet and sour/dry, light sweet/sour, with perfect bitter close and lingering subtle maltiness. Very enjoyable DBA, would buy again.

Pleasantly surprised with Clown Shoes. This new brew was released in February of 2011 and its a winner. Pours a hazy brown with a pillowy, tan head. Aromas strong of coffee and chocolate. Medium body, with with a rather bitter finish. Lots of chocolate and coffee notes. Overall, this brown will not disappoint. Almost like a hybrid of an IPA and chocolate stout.

22 oz. bottle served in snifter- served an almost transparent very darkened brown with hints of ruby shading, solid foamy off tan head formed, laced- soft, yet firm, like booty. Thick aroma of raisons, plums, dark caramel, slightly roasted malt, with hops trying to make itself know amongst the crowd. Hits the mouth with wide and lucious body, malt was slightly sweetened but seems to be cut with chocolate, middle holds up fine, finish winks at you wanting to you try more. I donít see whatís so offensive about the label- perhaps itís for the snots that donít know how to use their equipment- 2 minute miracle men and "layers" combined. Being in several interracial relationships during the course of my life, one was one of the best lovers I ever had. Almost 10 years after those times, I still get a smile about some of the stuff we did... DAMN itís hot in here... thanks for the memories, and damn good beer!!!
