Pours dark coffee with a creamy cappuccino smaller head. Aroma is lighter, but you get notes of faint non spicy pepper and roasted bitter chocolate malts. Flavors include a mixture blended very smoothly of vanilla, pepper (like dry flakes), and some bitter roasted malts. It is so smooth for a higher ABV.

Bottle from Total Wine. Good looking dark stout with a tan head but the aroma right off the bat is burnt malts, nothing sweet and candied as anticipated. The taste is actually an ok stout with hints of spice from the chile and cinnamon, which seems to get me more with some sips than others. The malts seem really heavy like an imperial stout or robust black IPA, so I'm a little confused by the beer, having expected a sweet dessert beer. Overall just ok but I have a tough time reconciling the expectation with the actual taste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A very tasty chocolate stout. Has just a slightly high aftertaste from the high alcohol but still good.

Bomber. Pours a a dark brown black color with no real appreciable head, but I didnít pour it. Nose is chocolate, spicy and peppery. Taste is complex , sweet and spicy, with an initial sweet chocolate taste and followed by a peppery taste. Finishes with the myriad of sweet and spicy notes, taste lingers and the alcohol well hidden. Quaff Score 8 / 10

Pours black with a brown head and aroma of chocolate and spices. Taste is strong and roasty, sweet chocolate, liquorice, roasted malt, and light vanilla with a deep, roasted chocolate finish. Nice stout

$8 bomber (on sale from $10) poured into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint. Havenít been let down by Clown Shoes yet, so Iím looking forward to this. Appearance: Pours a ruby black with excellent clarity on it. Fantastic two/three finger brown head as well. Excellent lacing. Good start so far. Smell: Hm. Somewhat subtle, and quite "safe." A lot of roastiness with a trace of the cinnamon this is brewed with. Thereís a slight bit of chocolate in the nose as well, but not as big as I was hoping. As it warms, a little alcohol and more sweetness pokes through, but it still smells about the same overall. Taste: Hitís the tongue with a heavy mouthfeel and a vague chocolate/vanilla sweetness. After a moment, the flavor suddenly bursts a little bit adding the roast and cinnamon near the finish. Like the smell, a bit light for some reason. Keeps making me think I have a stuffy nose or something, but I donít. Aftertaste has that classic Imperial Stout essence of alcohol and slight warmth. I donít many of those traditional Imperial Stout "dark fruit" sort of flavors here... a little as it warms up, but itís not prominent. The alcohol is well hidden, as I donít really get it in the aroma or taste until it warms up considerably. As it warms up a lot (after about 45 minutes), a pretty big smokey/petey aftertaste makes its presence known, which I welcome. Hm. Disappointed.. Iím glad I got this beer for a couple bucks off. It looked fantastic on the pour, but thatís the best that it got. I was expecting a chocolatey Imperial Stout with a nice spicy finish (from the cinnamon and/or chilis). Instead, I got what I feel is a relatively mild, and frankly ordinary, Imperial Stout that just had me wanting more... I may be rating this beer lower than I actually should, just because of that disappointment. TL;DR: A very enjoyable Imperial Stout that hides its alcohol well and presents a nice flavor, but the description of the beer had me expecting something completely different.
