A good imperial stout with an over bearing chocolate flavour profile. Pours a fully opaque black with a head of light beige. The aroma is heavy with roasted malts, light chocolate and a bit of spicy smells. A bit sweet up front with dark and milky chocolate flavours. Heavy robust roasted malts, vanilla, licorice and light chili flavour. Gorgeous flavour with a bit of a light body for the style and a flat finish.

(Bottle sample at tasting, VilleValla Pub, LInköping, Jan 26 2015) Pours very dark brown with a moderate tan head. Nose has chocolate, smoky chili, slightly sour cacao tones, sweet dark malt underneath, maybe a bit of cinnamon comes through. Palate has chocolate and a surprising acidity, more caramel, dark berries, spicy cinnamon and smoke, chili coming in towards the finish, roast, dark unsweetened chocolate. I am not totally sure where the acidity comes from? Fairly light bodied for style with moderate carb. Other than being a little lighter than I like an imperial stout to be, this was really good - flavours are super.

500 mL bottle. (2012 vintage, I believe). Almost black, with a thin brown head. Appealing aroma has chocolate, booze, vanilla, and a little roast. In that order. The taste is quite complex as well, with all of the above plus a hint of chili heat. No flavour from the chilis. Solid body. Nice surprise.

Appearance: Black body with a light khaki head that fades fairly quickly. Decent lacing.

Aroma: Not much aroma. There’s a light scent of chocolate milk but that’s it.

Taste: Light roasted caramel flavor along with some hints of toast. Pretty average for a stout. I don’t really get any chocolate flavor which is odd given the "chocolate sombrero" name. No alcohol flavor which is a plus for a 9% ABV beer.

Mouthfeel: It’s on the heavy side of a medium mouthfeel. Feels average.

Overall: It is an average stout, but below average for a chocolate stout. If you’re looking for a chocolate stout I would give this one a pass. If you’re looking for a higher ABV stout I would say flip a coin.

Bottle at VilleValla Pub. Opaque black liquid with a medium deep tan head. Aroma of dried fruit, chocolate, licorice, light smoke, cinnamon and smoked chilli. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter with notes of chocolate, dried fruit and light smoked chilli. Medium to full bodied with medium carbonation. Really nice.

Rich taste without excess bitterness. First choice so far. Matt Scarborough brought this on New Years day. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap. Pours a deep chocolate color with a smallish head. Very smooth taste up front with strong chocolate malt flavors. Not overly sweet yet it hides the alcohol content well. Smooth and easy to drink. Excellent overall.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle dated 09/17/2014. It pours dark brown to just about an opaque black. Small tan head that fades eventually. Rich chocolate malt aromas on the nose along with Chile peppers. Medium to full body. The taste starts out sweet and chocolate-like but it does not take long for the bitter bite and spicy peppers to kick in and linger at the finale. No booze at all for 9%.

12 oz. bottle pours an opaque dark brown/black with thin but lingering mocha head that leaves good lacing. Aroma has chocolate, vanilla, roasted malts. Taste is on the sweet side with peppers and a hint of bitterness in the finish. Body is full with slight carbonation and a sticky, creamy mouthfeel. This one gets even better as it warms up. Not your typical Imperial Stout, but a very enjoyable one.

Pours a dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is heavy on chocolate with some roast. Flavor is sweet chocolate and roast, a little bitter. Has a dry finish with an almost gritty feel. Excellent.
