Roasted dark malts plus extra chocolate malts plus ancho chile plus cinnamon plus organic vanilla extract plus a chocolate eating, beer drinking, Clown Shoes wearing, multi limbed, gorgeous and glorious Mexican wrestler on the label. That’s the recipe for a Chocolate Sombrero!

Malty and sweet, gorgeous pour on tap at one of my favorite bars in Mpls. Very definite chocolate presence here at the forefront of the flavor. Pleasant on the tongue and interesting. My friends all agreed at the table: this was the best stout they’ve had. I’m not sure if it’s my fav. but if I want a choco-tastic, creamy beer I’ll go this route.

22 oz bottle. The pour is a nice dark brown/light black with a good sized dark khaki head that falls down to a film, leaving some pretty good lace. The aroma is big on chocolate malts and a good roast. There is a little chili heat there on the back end, but it's not too complex. There is a little bitterness that comes with it as well. The flavor is a little better. There is a definitely cocoa and dry butter toast present and on the back end, the heat of the Chilis really make a statement. They slowly warm from the back and just compliment so good. There isn't that drowning pepper type of flavor that had turned me off of these types of stouts. This is good. The mouth feel is thin and runny with some light carbonation that helps, but not enough. Still doesn't coat well. The aftertaste is a little light, but warm with a lingering dry chocolatey chili flavor. I like it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a solid black with a small brown head and lacing. It has a new nice aroma of chocolate, cinnamon, and some spice. It has a flavor of chocolate and spices up front with a spicy backbone and finding over a heavy body. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours deep bron to black with a medium kahki head. Aromas of chocolate, chili pepper sweetness, and vanilla. Medium body with a smooth silky mouth feel. Taste of chocolate and vanilla. Very tastey with no chili or alcohol heat.would definetly drink again.

12 oz Bottle. Tasted on 11/15/14. Beer from Total Wine Lewisville, TX. Pours to a deep black color with almost no head. The aroma has notes of peppers, chocolate & cinnamon. The flavor is similar to the aroma with a thin body & some dark fruit & chili spice on the finish that lingers. The body was too thin for me & the flavors just didn't meld together as well as some other chocolate stouts I've had. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Not bad. Good dark color, some soft expressions on the palate with a little froth, but significant depth and layering in the flavors, giving both the chocolate and the hint of spices--but still, not especially spicy. Or maybe I just couldn’t tell because I had this while at a church chili cookoff and there was a lot of spice going on in the chili. Doesn’t feel like 9%abv. Bottle.

Sample at a local tasting event. Dark brown body with a medium head. Chocolate, cocoa and various spices. Quite nice, but maybe a bit thin on the palate.
