4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours a dark brown with a thick brown head. There's a hint of cinnamon in the aroma. Tastes of chocolate, vanilla and of course that cinnamon I smelled. Very impressive.

3.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours dark redish brown with beige head. Decent carbonation. Not much aroma, some sweet notes but hard to pick up. Taste is chili, vanilla, candy chocolate, roast. End taste is bitter sweet. A little lacking in body and not sure the Mexican style works well here, but hides the ABV well.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle to glass - dark, dark, tan head, quickly vanishes. Aroma of chatted oak, chocolate and some booze. Full and creamy, heavy on chocolate and vanilla, well masked ABV, very flavorful, spicy notes.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Black pour with a fizzy tan head that sinks away quickly. Quite thin bodied. Nice tingle from the chilli, some vanilla, roasted malts... sweet. Really drinkable and quite light for the ABV. I really enjoyed this.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle. Bottled on 06/16/16. (Meijer) Kalamazoo, MI.
Oh, I didnít realize this was 9% Imperial Stout... I thought this was a 5% sweet stout with chocolate. Letís see. Dark reddish brown... almost black color with a small tan head.
Roasted malt and spices... the spices are dominating... and probably ruining this for me. Iíll give it a chance. The flavor is roasted malt, alcohol, mild chili, spices and chocolate. The spices ainít ruining this. Thatís nice. Not the best, not the worst.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at home. Aroma is roasted malt, vanilla, chocolate, mild chili, cocoa, dark fruits, prunes, plenty of liquorice in the finish, touch of roasty coffee and soy sauce. Flavour is medium sweet and light to moderate bitter with some chili burn in the throat. Flavour is medium to full. A bit heavier on the liquorice than Iíd expected. Not top tier Imperial Stout but good, nice vanilla chocolate and subtle chili notes.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A nice imperial stout with appropriate amount of dosing of vanilla (ideally shouldnít be noticed), cinnamon and ancho chile, a Mexican pepper. Bitter, roasted and enjoyable.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a dark brown to black with a thin tan ring. Light carbonation with plenty of lacing. Nice aroma of bittersweet dark chocolate and roasted malts. Medium silky smooth texture. Full mouth feel with descent flavors. Smooth finish with a malty aftertaste. Not harsh or bitter. Hides the alcohol well. Very good but not great.

3.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
355 ml bottle bought at YATA in MOKO, Mong Kok.
Looks: Clear deep Cola blackish brown colour with a very thin trace of yeast particles; Less than one quarter finger head with residual soapy dark beige foam which fades in 15 seconds; Fair sticky lacing with zero carbonation.
Aroma: Very fragrant rich dark malt with can be smelt half a feet away, with strong roastyness, peanuts, strong caramel, strong burnt toffee, smoked chili pepper, plums, strong alcohol, cream, chocolate, soy sauce, wood, sugar, bread, yeast and light grass. Strong and complex!
Taste: Strong sweet full dark malt, with strong caramel, toffee, strong burnt toast, strong alcohol, strong liquorices, black coffee, dark chocolate, sugar syrup, yeast, lemon, pretty strong bitter hops and grass.
Body: Med to full body; Very slick and oily palate.
Mouth Feel: Close to full dark maltyness in an oily background, not sluggish but heavy typical of the style. Very sweet booze upfront with slight burn, which brings up the caramel and sturdy burnt toast. Sweetness is syrupy and heavy, which bury whatever that is left of vanilla and cinnamon, which are undetectable, just boozey liquorices which lend much of the bitterness. Lemon to round. Strong but a bit too one-dimensional.
Hoppiness: Light grass in nose, lemon and grass in taste; Bitterness - more liquorices than hops - is high for a lasting, strong bitter syrup-dark malty finish.
After taste: Fairly dry. Very sweet and bitter to mouth.
Comments: Aroma-wise, this one has some intriguing smoked chili to go with nicely roasted dark maltyness and layered stout. Its taste, though, is too single-mindedly strong with strong syrupy booze, strong bitterness and not much else. Cinnamon? Vanilla? Ancho chili? Canít find any of them. A ďstrong-for-strong-sakeĒ Imperial Stout and Iím not impressed.
