A nice black body with a quickly fading brown head. Aroma had a nice leather quality up front, decent chocolate malts and some spice to it. Flavor was initially sweet, almost like a dessert. Mild roasted coffee malts and some heat from the chili rounded it out. Some alcohol was present but it pretty much was well hidden. Smooth and creamy body that was easy to drink.

12oz bottle. Pour very dark with medium amount of head. Interesting combination of flavors. Chocolate (cake) and chilly. Vanilla and cocoa combined with cinnamon. Not sure I have ever used soy sauce as a deScriptor for a beer, but that’s what came to mind. 9%abv is well hidden. More than a few would defiantly catch up too you. Another fine brew from the Clowns.

I know this is an impy stout, but I felt it was a bit too malty (in a malto dextrin sort of way) and cloying, and I thought the chile and cinnamon additions were a bit too faint -- but I should say, as the beer warmed, and the more I drank, the more those notes surfaced. Chocolate notes were pleasant, albeit one dimensional. 9% alcohol was hidden really well -- dangerously well, in fact. Maltiness factor was high, though the sweetness factor was curiously low ... and I felt myself craving a more complex sweetness, which would do a lot to amplify the chocolate. Nitpicking aside, it’s a decent beer.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Stas’s place. Thanks Stas & Max. Opaque brown with small brown head. The aroma has lots of chocolate, wood, vanilla, soy sauce and cinnamon. Sweet-sour flavor with notes of chocolate, wood, hint of chilli, vanilla and cinnamon. Medium to full-bodied. Very nice.

Bottle from Jake’s Liquor Store, Port Moody, BC
Jet black color with generous compact brown head. Very nice chocolate aroma, with just a pinch of spices, and a touch of caramel and old wood. Sweet but lean mouthfeel; the chocolate flavor is stronger than some roasted malt; there is a touch of liquorice and an impression of chili pepper; the flavor is fresh; the final is just a bit more boring.
Easily drinkable. Excellent.

Dark brown with a medium sized, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, vanilla beans, dark chocolate, light alcohol. Taste of roast, vanilla, chocolate, with some spicy pepper / cinnamon in the finish.
