4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 dwyerpg (4092) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - OCT 28, 2012The aroma is definitely dominated by the chile, not the chocolate. The flavor has both. And it’s a pretty even battle. Yet, for once, I think I like the chile. The chocolate is very smooth, it’s the chile that provides th e graininess.

Bottle in Vail with my dad. Pour is pitch black with a frothy brown head and good lacing. Sweet vanilla, lightly spicy - nutmeg & cinnamon - dark fruity, roasty, chocolatey, green peppers, and espresso in the aroma. Taste is smooth and spicy chocolate with a cayenne kick - with lighter notes of sweet vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, roasted malt, black licorice, dark cocoa, espresso, and earthy hops with a lightly spicy finish. Syrupy mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Really well-balanced and easy drinking stout; no signs I alcohol.
