22oz Bottle. The pour was a very dark muddy brown with an average (1-2 finger) tan creamy head that had great retention, reducing slightly to a small cap and possessed excellent sheeting of lacing that coated the entire glass. The aroma was of a burnt chocolate malt, light resin hops and an earthy yeast with notes of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, vanilla, chili peppers, a hint of smoke and a moderate alcohol presence. The taste was good and roasty with a nice malty-sweetness and a touch of chocolate throughout, progressing slightly with a mild bitter charred flavor with notes of coffee, a spicy chili bite and a hint of cinnamon ate the end. The flavor lasted an average time following the swallow, with a spicy alcohol warming sensation and a nice roastiness left behind. Mouthfeel was almost full in body with a creamy, oily texture and a somewhat medium carbonation. Overall this was a brew with a very nice complexity derived from all the flavors converging upon one another, which as it turned out created a really tasty and well balanced Stout with a superb drinkability...

Speko (108) - DENMARK - APR 29, 2016
Bottle 12 oz. Pours black with medium beige, slowly diminishing, head. Some lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, chili, hint of vanilla. Sweet taste with notes of roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla, herbs, chalk, a chili in the aftertaste. The herbal taste doesn’t seem to work here, just a bit off target for an optimal effect. Medium body and soft carbonation.

Bottle from Voldby. Shared with Desverger. Thanks to Henrik for this. Pours black with a beige head. Aroma and taste is dark roasted malt, dark chocolate prominence, cocoa, caramel, nuances of vanilla. Full body. Oily texture. Soft carbonation. Very good.

Bottle. Black with a small nicely lacing brown head. Nose has chocolate, chili, herbs. Odd. Flavour has herbs, wood, chocolate, chalk, light charcoal, earthy notes. Medium/full body, soft oily texture, sweet with balanced bitterness and no alcohol showing. Texture and balance feels fine, but I don’t like the spices too much.

Bottle from Oak Barrel. Good effort this one. Chili is pretty subtle. Overwhelming flavours are chocolate, vanilla and coffee (and quite sweet overall). I noticed another reviewer relating this to Mole and I fully agree, it kind of has a bit of that earthiness. Not the most complex or rich, but a good go to quaffer for imperial stout fans (as in Oz, where you get ripped of for almost everything, it is certainly one of the more value-for-money ISs).

While I appreciate a good Mexican chocolate, I feel they missed the mark here. Pours dark with almost no head. Aroma is of roasted malts with hints of alcohol and spice, but no chocolate. Flavor is not too different, having more vanilla and spice combine in a somewhat medicinal way. Not what I was looking for. Finish is fairly clean.

Bottle, bought@Kihoskh, Cph. Pours deep opaque black with a small, creamy, beige film head. Aroma has deep chocolate, nuts, light chili and cocoa. Medium carbonation, fine dry and quite creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has lots of fat chocolate, cocoa, hazelnuts, vinious, vanilla, a slight warming touch.

Tasted from bottle. Aroma is big time chocolate with some spicey notes. Taste is very well balanced with mild bitterness. Excellent flavor of chocolate, vanilla and cinnamon. Notice a little chili flavor on the finish. Very well done. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared by martjoobolut, thanks! Bottled 11.2016. Subtle chili and chili chocolate, sweet, bitterish finish, liqorice-like moments. Soft, mellow carbonation. Dryish roast. Lovely stuff, I really like this. Downing the whole bottle would probably make the chili hit a whole lot harder.
