22oz Bottle. The pour was a very dark muddy brown with an average (1-2 finger) tan creamy head that had great retention, reducing slightly to a small cap and possessed excellent sheeting of lacing that coated the entire glass. The aroma was of a burnt chocolate malt, light resin hops and an earthy yeast with notes of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, vanilla, chili peppers, a hint of smoke and a moderate alcohol presence. The taste was good and roasty with a nice malty-sweetness and a touch of chocolate throughout, progressing slightly with a mild bitter charred flavor with notes of coffee, a spicy chili bite and a hint of cinnamon ate the end. The flavor lasted an average time following the swallow, with a spicy alcohol warming sensation and a nice roastiness left behind. Mouthfeel was almost full in body with a creamy, oily texture and a somewhat medium carbonation. Overall this was a brew with a very nice complexity derived from all the flavors converging upon one another, which as it turned out created a really tasty and well balanced Stout with a superb drinkability...

Sample at HopCat Detroit on 8/9/15. Darkest brown pour with a thick tan head. Aroma of malt, chocolate and light vanilla. Sweet chocolate, malt and vanilla flavor giving way to a very light pepper finish.

Bottle at home. It pours opaque black with a creamy beige head. Dark roasted aroma with chocolate notes along with light coffee. Light vanilla. The flavor is sweet roasted malty with chocolate notes and vanilla. Light cinnamon. Only a whiff of the chili in the finish. Not as complex as the description tells but itís a very nice Impy Stout.

Bottle [from trade with mista] @ home. Opaque very dark brown to black color, medium sized lightly creamy brown colored head that lasts for a decent while and leaves good lacing. Aroma is malts, dark malts, dark chocolate, lightly a hint of liquor somehow. Taste malts, moderately bitter, unfortunately I only lightly dark chocolate. Doesnít have the depth one would expect from the aroma. Nice beer though, just not top notch.

Black color with a medium head. Light spiced aroma, slightly smoky. A bit of vanilla. Dry, chocolate flavor. Very mild spice, only shows up towards finish. Full body.

Bottle from Julioís. Poured into a tulip glass. A brownish-black brew with a frothy coffee colored head. Sweet malty aroma with a hint of spice. Flavor is quite chocolaty with a little heat in the middle, followed by lingering toffee notes. Interesting stuff.

Draft at Steins. Darkest brown in color with a small tan head. The aroma is sweet and stouty, chocolatey with vanilla and a hint of spice. The flavor is rather sweet with a slight cinnamony spice note. Not many IBUs in this mother. Very smooth and slick mouthfeel with low carbonation. Good but not a standout in the style.

Bottle. Pours a dark, opaque brown/black with garnet highlights and a mixed-grain, tan, creamy, lacy head. Nose is baking chocolate, coffee, cinnamon, vanilla, chile, booze, and pumpernickel. Rich chocolate, vegetal chile, coffee, and vanilla up front; quite a harmonious balance. The heat and smoke doesnít really kick in until the back of the palate, past the coffee and cream; itís a smooth transition, and itís really very well handled. Mild for as high an ABV as itís carrying. Finish is long and smoky with more chocolate. Well done.
