22oz Bottle. The pour was a very dark muddy brown with an average (1-2 finger) tan creamy head that had great retention, reducing slightly to a small cap and possessed excellent sheeting of lacing that coated the entire glass. The aroma was of a burnt chocolate malt, light resin hops and an earthy yeast with notes of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, vanilla, chili peppers, a hint of smoke and a moderate alcohol presence. The taste was good and roasty with a nice malty-sweetness and a touch of chocolate throughout, progressing slightly with a mild bitter charred flavor with notes of coffee, a spicy chili bite and a hint of cinnamon ate the end. The flavor lasted an average time following the swallow, with a spicy alcohol warming sensation and a nice roastiness left behind. Mouthfeel was almost full in body with a creamy, oily texture and a somewhat medium carbonation. Overall this was a brew with a very nice complexity derived from all the flavors converging upon one another, which as it turned out created a really tasty and well balanced Stout with a superb drinkability...

0.355 bottle.
Pours black with a small, brownish head which disappears almost instantly. Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, a tad of herbs, some peanuts, and lactose. Taste is clearly malty, once again chocolate takes the prime with coffee relatively far behind, still noticeable though, so is lactose and molasses. A medium body, a very creamy texture, and a flat carbonation. Finish is long, once again chocolaty, it reinforces the herbal and molasses flavors. Overall a decent beer, it could be more chocolaty considering its label; moreover, the herbal nuances do not go well with the rest.

Bottle. Thanks for sharing, Shag. Perfectly black colored body with a barely perceptible head. Milk chocolate nose with some toast and peanuts. Flavors of milk chocolate are spices spices with cinnamon and some pepper heat. I also get some bits of plum. Warming and a little boozy. Nice.

Nice dark color, good malty flavor and slight hop taste. The high alcohol content comes out in the taste, but nothing that takes away from this beer.

bottle @ Jungle Jims / Cincinnati OH --- Aroma of chocolate malt. Opaque black color, brown one-finger head, wide bands of lace. Taste is rich roasted malt that is loaded with chocolate and just a bit of chili warmth. Mild fizz, then more chocolate that begins turning bitter as it drifts into a long finish. Big and rich, but awfully filling. One is my limit.
