22oz. bottle, cellar aged for ~10 months. Powerful aroma of rich, deeply toasted caramel malts and a complex blend of fruit and hop tones, with notes of sweet brown sugar, toffee, citrus, pineapple, raisin, red apple skin and honeyed pear, some alcohol present here as well. Mostly clear dark red-amber in color with a lasting, fine, off-white head and plenty of fine lacing. Flavor profile is chock full of caramel malt sweetness, with a light floral and citrus complement, some peppery alcohol and a generous dosage of spicy hop bitterness and flavor, finishing with touches of vanilla and dried fruit. Warming thick and smooth on the palate with an appropriately huge body. This is exactly what it purports to be, a huge American Barleywine, and a very good example of one at that. Quite satisfying.

Not my fav style but this was enjoyable. Nice complex aroma of malt toffee and alcohol. Nice cloudy dark amber pour. Taste is similar to aroma As with most in this style this gets too cloying sweet and is just too much beer in one sitting. More I drink the less I like

65cl bottles courtesy of oldmanriver at Hugi’s Homebrew Tasting. Pours a mid-unctuous orange honey colour. Characteristic US barley wine nose of concentrated pale malts, like citrus jelly concentrate, a distinct amped abv presence and loads of exotic dryhops: lime peel, wild honey, coniferous resin, going on artisanal hobby glue. Taste sees some of those aromas reappear in a well-balanced, pretty easy drinking, dryish sweet sipper. Straightforward, heavy like a liquid candied fruit sponge cake, brewed with apparent skill, but not what I generally reach for in a 10%+ beer.

Very nice American Barely Wine. Big resinous and citrus aroma, deep golden orange in color. Well achieved sweetness with a fantastic dry finish. Medium mouthfeel, alcohol is well hid in recipe. Nicely done

This time you can look to other reviews for comments about malt and candy and fruit and what not. This is a big bitter boozy ABW. Mmm Mmm good. I like it.

Pours murky dark amber with a medium tan head. Aromas of caramel, ripe apple, figs, dates, ripe peach, hay. Taste is caramel, raisins, figs, dates, ripe apple, peach with some nice pine and resin notes towards the end. Mouthfeel is almost creamy with medium carbonation.

Aroma is sweet crystal malts, light caramel and yeast. Taste is similar to the aroma with sweet malts, beligian sugar candy and molasses. Appearance is a clear brown/amber with a white head that retains fairly well.

650 ml bottle. Pours a clear mahogany color with moderate head of big bubbles. Aromas of toffee, brown sugar, malt extract, and a hint of piney hops. Flavors are similar, though the hops are a lot more pronounced, and come out as grass and pine in the finish. Quite hot.

Amber body with a thick nipple cap floating on top. Less hoppy than I was expecting, more of an English style. Aroma is nice, pleasant, warm, but no big whoop. Nose is simple, alcohol, caramel, touch of honey, and there be leather. Taste is same. Alcohol seems a touch strong, melon, lingering sweetness, lots of wood. A bitterness lingers after each sip. No complexity here, just a drinkable beer....
