Bottle @ home. Pours red-brown with a tan head. Aroma is caramel, molasses, spicy, malty. Flavor is citrus, hoppy, caramel, vanilla, malt. Nice barley wine.

Thick butter-coloured head, fast receding over hazy red-amber beer. Rich malts, cakey, under fragrant, sweet-fruity (muscat grapes) hops. Alcohol and fusels apparent, musk. Bitter flavour, hoppy, but with again a strong malt undercurrent, suggesting sweetness and even syrup, without really surfacing. Quinine-like bitterness, fruit as passion fruit and melon, but bitter. Vinous, especially warming up. Rich, but too wry to be velvety. Well-carbonated, well-bodied. Nice BW.

The pour is a dark copper and amber in the body with a thin off white head that dissipates instantly leaving a thin layer clinging to the glass. The aroma is well hopped with notes of pine resin and citrus zest among the trademark toffee and caramel malts of the barleywine. The aroma is laced with notes of alcohol. A bit sweet up front with caramel and nutty notes along with a bit of fruit like apple or pear. The hops are definitely not subtle and present themselves towards the finish with big zesty citrus notes, grapefruit and spicy floral notes. The finish is moderately bitter with more of a hop flavour and juicy grapefruit notes. Heavy alcohol is present but mostly subdued by heavy toffee and toasted malt notes. A nice brew with a big profile despite a light bodied mouthfeel.

Pours a golden orange with a thin white head. Aroma of sweet malt, citrus hops, fruity alcohol esters, soap. Flavor is a little sweet then some soapy lemony hops with a lite citrus. Alcohol is actually hidden well. Easy drinking but a little sweet. Great as a 4 oz taster at Rozi’s

Bottle @ Odense Tasting January, 2015. Pours dark unclear amber with a creamy head. Nose is rich and vinous. Dark fruit and caramel. Very sweet with a note of oxidation and dusty hops.

Buen equilibrio y complejidad. Excelente!

I’m drinking this aged, so the citra hops aren’t coming through the way they should, instead a bit oxidized. The booze is evident. Some molasses, sweet stick malts, caramel. Cloudy brownish red with decent head and lacing. Alright stuff. Would like to try fresh too.

Another Clown Shoes provided by Adrien. Thanks! Pours amber with a white head. Aroma is quite nice. Burnt sugar, dark fruits, bread. Taste starts caramel sweet, then molasses, brown bread. There’s some pine bitter in the finish. Just doesn’t taste as good as it smells.

22 oz. bottle stamp on neck reads 5/19/2013, just enough age. Amber color with thin head. Aroma is caramel covered dark fruits and still light hop notes. The taste shows no alcohol and really smooth. What surprises me the most is the remaining hop presence that balances the brew extremely well. The texture is dry with some light bitterness. Very nice!

Burnt orange, copper penny appearance. very light minimal head. Smells awesome. just maple syrup and straight up bourbon with vanilla and toffee. Taste is pretty awesome. this is really nice. Delicious. Burnt malts, some rye whiskey, brown sugar, a slight bit of butter. Sticky sweet, oily mouthfeel. bitterness is faded but still sticky.

Bottled 07/12/2013. Pours a hazy brown, nose is woody malt, esters, medicinal/herbal notes, molasses, grape. Same comes through for the taste. Strong bitterness, fruity, malty, woody. Heavy hitter.
