3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
The hops here are a little overshadowed by the huge malt body, flavor, and texture. Lots of toasty grain and baked bread. Some cherry flavors. Gritty texture and bit of an alcohol burn on the back end of the palate. Some citrus orange and grapefruit working late in the palate and on the aroma. Syrupy caramel and molasses dominate though. definite sipper and definitely a beer for the cooler months.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
The aroma encompasses carmel and brown sugar with hints of citrus. A clear dark copper pour without a head or lacing. Sweetness rides a backbone of hop bitterness. Carmel, brown sugar, hints of cherries, pine and citrus. Some alcohol noted at the finish. Medium body and medium carbonation. Overall, a nice winter warmer. I still perfer Old Guardian.

Bomber. Hazy amber with suspended bits. Aroma of juicy dark fruit, citrus zest, raisin, apricot. Taste is sweet, with tang. Chewy, and sticky.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Dark brown beer, just a little fizz of a head. This delivers a big bang in many ways, a rich body, rich flavors of cooked sugars, dark fruit, a bit of yeast. Delicious. (#5724, 9/7/2014)

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared by oldmanriver - thanks! Amber coloured, a bit hazy, medium head. Hoppy, a bit sweet, caramel, resiny, complex smell. Nice notes of caramel and malt paired with some hoppiness. Strong bitterness, full body - well done!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared at the Midland Meet on 24th Aug 2014. Liquid and alcoholic marmalade with attitude! Poured a cloudy orange, weak beige head; heavy tropical fruit aroma, with oranges to the fore. The taste is also orange flavoured with a caramel sweetness. The alcohol is noticeable and adds a bite to the sweetness. The beer tries to have a dry finish, but fails: I liked it.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber bottle sample, poured a hazy amber colour with a non lasting head. Malts, Lemons, citrus, caramel, toffee, maple syrup, thick mouthfeel. Not the best american barley wine....

3.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
I don’t see any markings on the glass or label which would indicate the date this was bottled, but it was purchased this year.
Appearance: The body is a hazy dark brown with red. There is an off-white short fluffy head with a touch of brown. Leaves good lines and spots of lacing on the glass.
Aroma: There is a fairly bold pine scent shortly followed by the scent of alcohol.
Taste: There is a fairly strong bitter tasting citrus rind flavor followed by some very rich caramel sweetness. It is a very rich tasting beer. There is a bit of cedar character in there that comes through as the beer warms up a bit. I’m on the fence a bit because I get this light oxidation but it isn’t always there.
Palate: The palate is very thick and heavy, with a strong bitterness. There is no denying the presence of this beer on the palate. Very smooth as well.
Overall: It is a very nice barley wine that I would drink again. It is a big strong bold beer that came in a bomber, and it is 11% ABV so I would keep that in mind when buying because the presence does not abate over the drinking experience. Food pairings would have to be able to stand up to this. Probably a large smokey grilled steak with some rosemary potatoes, sesame seed green beans, and some fresh rye bread.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bomber from Greenes Liquors. Poured a not so great looking chunky bees wax brown with a smaller foamy light beige head. Aroma of molassess, dry brown sugar, old caramel, dry breads, some old citrus rinds. Flavor is a bit sweeter than the aroma, burnt caramel, molasses, dark corn syrup, raisins, dry old toast, touch of old citrus rinds. Full body, dry, noticeable heat that lingers. Grows on me the more I sip it but it is an 11% big boy.
