From a bottle poured a brown color with a good amount of head. Strong sweet malty flavor with a lingering finish.

On tap at Lunar Brewing Co., and snifter served, showing some clarity & brightness to the orangey amber color, with a modest layer of off white head foam, and spots & strands of lacing. The nose had that typical, American, Barleywine scent to it, with some citrus, dried fruit, a little zest & light spiciness, and caramelly/malty sweetness. Medium+ body, with soft carbonation, the taste was similar notes, with moderate hop bitterness worked into the fray, present, but fairly disguised alcohol that warmed a bit toward the finish, and a light, syrupy sweetness that lingered on the tongue. A decent Barleywine that I probably would have liked to cellar, if I were psychic, and had bought the bombered version.

Pours a dark orange with a white head. The beer smells great. Notes of caramel, toffee, some hops. Taste is pretty bland though. Some caramel, and dark fruit, but pretty non descript. Slight hop. Kinda just blah

Bottle. Caramel brown pour with a nice finger of white head. Aroma is lots of better hops, pine, dark fruits and malty sweetness. Taste is bitter hops up front, followed by some malty sweetness, finishes bitter like a IIPA. Solid American Barleywine.

650ml bottle Pours dark orange with a white bubbly head. Aroma of malts, caramel, toffee and faint hints of hops. Taste is malty, sweet and sticky with some grassy bitterness, syrupy toffee and berries. Finish is sweet, malty and boozy with some toffee, bitterness and sticky syrup. Quite generic and boring US barley wine.

65 cl bottle @ home, no BBE info
Aroma has caramel, woody tones, some toffee, hints of resin and vanilla. Feels heavy. Flavour has sweet caramel malt, toffee, ripe fruits and some hops with grapefruit. Also some berry juice in the finish. Creamy palate. Quite typical American BW – nothing disturbing (except the sweetness) but nothing special either.

Pours thick. In between copper and amber with a red hue. Spicy scent. Easy sipper. Smooth. Spicy hops. Good malt base. A bit of a dark stripe running through it; earth, root, licorice or molasses; it adds an intersting contrast to the straight forward hop/malt.

Bottle. Murky copper with a tall, frothy tan head. Big caramel, sweet malt, brown sugar, floral hops and booze in the aroma. Candied fruit, caramel, toasted malt, bread, citrus, floral hops and brown sugar round out the taste. Body is medium-full and chewy with a dense, prickly carbonation. Ends a touch sweeter with more sweet malt, caramel, brown sugar notes, light booze, ripe fruit, citrus notes, floral hops, toffee, dark bread and toasted malt.

From a bottle shared by mcox. Thanks Mike. Reddish amber pour and vaguely opaque. Big fruity malt character in the aroma. The body is around medium. The taste has a solid sweet malty note with virtually no booze.

22 ounce bottle, bottled on 05/09/14. Served in a DFH snifter, the beer pours a brown/ruby red color with about an inch off-white head that stayed around a while. There’s also a good amount of lacing. The brew smells like caramel, toffee, dark fruit, bready malt and some citrus peel. Taste is similar to the aroma, it tastes like caramel, toffee, candied oranges, bready malt, dark fruit, and some citrusy and pine hops. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s a bit syrupy and has moderate carbonation. And for the most part the 11% ABV is well hidden. I thought this was good, I wouldn’t mind buying this again in the future.
