Our new Pecan Pie Porter no longer uses extract, but rather brown sugar and pecans roasted by friends at The Gallows in Boston. Buddy Hadry, a rep at Bella Vista in PA, gave me the name for this beer, the second Pecan beer now that he has named. Thank you, Buddy!

This is a unique porter. Reminds me a bit of Denver's Graham Cracker Porter. This thing oozes fall! I wish the aroma was more nutty, but the taste has some pecan and brown sugar in it. I like it, but I found myself wanting more pecan! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from a 750 mL bottle into a stout glass. Aromas of roasted malt, a bit of vanilla. Almost completely opaque with a small tan head and a bit of lacing. Itís a sweeter porter, but not over-sweet. The thing thatís so great about this beer is how creamy it is. It has a mouthfeel like milk, and the finish is tremendous. I guess pecans donít have much flavor, so I wouldnít count on a ton of that, but this is a really exceptional porter in its own right.

A nice porter but I did not get any pecans in the taste. It simply tastes like a nice porter. Nothing wrong with that but still a let down.

From a 22oz. bomber into a globe glass, 2013 edition (made on 10/3/13) Poured a nice chocolate brown/black, with almost a 2 finger tan head that slowly faded to nice residual foam and lacing. At first whiff, notes of roasted grains, sweetness and coffee/mocha. Didnít pick up pecan notes at first but they did come in later as the beer warmed in the glass. First taste had me thinking again of roasted grains, black coffee and then a sweetness. Pecan taste is there but very light. Medium mouthfeel with good carbonation. Nice finish, not too dry with a lingering bitter, sweet, nutty, coffee after taste. Not a bad offering. With the pecan addition, its a little different that others but drinkable enough. I would buy it again if I was in the mood. Putting one away to see if more flavors come through after some time. Cheers!

Aroma is a little roasty with hints of chocolate, vanilla and cream with the pecans melding everything together nicely. An attractive beer with a deep black color and tan head. The pecans come through more in the flavor than the scent and add a nice nutty flavor. Delicious!

Bottle. Pours very dark, with very nice foamy tan head. Smells very roasty, sweet. Has really good carbonation, definitely nutty, bitter finish, medium to heavy body. Some astringency from the nuts. Nothing outstanding but definitely a good beer.

I thought Clown Shoes got exactly what they were going for in this one. I think it got better as it warmed up a little bit. Really brought out the pecan pie flavors.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Central Market, 10/21/13, 2013 Bottle

Aroma: The aroma is nutty, and sweet, with some caramel and roasted malts
Appearance: It pours a rich brown color with a small light brown head and some light lace
Flavor: The taste is medium sweet, fairly nutty, and a little roasty, with a mild earthy bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a smooth, clean feel, and a soft carbonation
Overall Impression: Pretty solid stuff overall. The pecans and brown sugar flavors are clearly there, but they are also subtle enough that the clean malty flavors can come through too. Fairly light and easy drinking for the style.

Bottle pour. Very hazel colored with a dark tan head. The aroma is like smelling a pecan pie, it's wonderful. The taste is very thick, a smoky nutty flavor with a malty finish. Overall a great porter, a heavy beer.
