COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our new Pecan Pie Porter no longer uses extract, but rather brown sugar and pecans roasted by friends at The Gallows in Boston. Buddy Hadry, a rep at Bella Vista in PA, gave me the name for this beer, the second Pecan beer now that he has named. Thank you, Buddy!

Bottle, Beers of Europe. Poured a deep dark brown colour with a dignified tan head. Sweet choc ní nut nose. Pecan aspect seemed pretty subdued. Sweet flavour with some roast , malts and choc notes A bit on the thin watery side. OK, but a bit disappointing overall

Tap. Nice dense dark pour with a clingy brown head. Lots of carmelized pecans and sugar sweetness in this. Some dry roasty coffee as well. A bit bitter late but finishes fairly clean.

Very little on the nose. No roasted notes, very little nuttiness. Slight astringency. Jet black pour, mocha head that stays for a minute before forming into a ring. Solid sweetness mixes with a nuanced nuttiness. Almost no roasted porter flavor. Nothing noticeable from the palate, but nothing that detracts. Overall, not a bad beer. Worth drinking again for $3.99/bomber, but nothing Iíd seek out. Vintage dated so Iíll try it again in a year or so.

Shared bomber, snifter. Aroma: brown sugar. Brown sugar and pecan accents that donít mess an average porter. Dry finish.

22oz bottle served in a DFH IPA glass A - Jet black body with dark brown edges on the bottom of the glass. 2 fingers of firm mocha tan head. Sheets of thick spiderweb lacing left inside the glass. S - Honey grain, menthol, notes of tart coffee, mint chocolate, charred barley, smells like dry and muted whoppers, hints of prunes when warmed up. T - Sweet roasted malts, chocolate and cardboard, the oxidization is mild, notes of cold pressed coffee, more sweet than savory, more robust black malts, finishes with mild coffee, chocolate, and a bit of char. M - Lighter side of full body, medium carbonation, slightly scrubby, great for the style. A good drinking porter but not what I was expecting from the label. I detected zero nuts and zero maple. But other than that this is a solid little porter. Full bodied with coffee and chocolate malts providing plenty of flavor. Excellent looking beer as well. Drink this beer as a porter and not whats on the label and youíll love it. Serving type: bottle 11-17-2013

4/I/14 - 1Pt. 6.Fl. Oz. bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent) @ home - BB: n/a (2014-12) Thanks to Erwin for sharing the bottle!

Clear dark brown beer, aery irregular beige head, little stable, bit adhesive. aroma: lots of chocolate, mocha, dried fruits, sweet, floral, and yes, the smell of caramelised pecans, but maybe thatís only because I know? MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: dark chocolate, mocha, hoppy bitterness, dried fruits like dates and figs, some alcohol, raisins. Aftertaste: pretty hoppy, mocha and coffee, caramel, bit sweet, bitter.
