Our new Pecan Pie Porter no longer uses extract, but rather brown sugar and pecans roasted by friends at The Gallows in Boston. Buddy Hadry, a rep at Bella Vista in PA, gave me the name for this beer, the second Pecan beer now that he has named. Thank you, Buddy!

Bottle; poured a dark cola brown with an average sized brown head. Aroma of caramel, cocoa, toffee, chalk, with fruit and sweet notes. Palate was almost too watery, but it did make it a quick drink. Flavor overall had some nice complexity, but flavors were not bursting out generally. That said, notes of caramel, brown sugar, cocoa, nuts, roasted malt, and maybe a note of coffee in the finish. A solid and drinkable beer, but maybe expected a bit more.

hazy sepia, wispy cream head. Sweet nose is hints of sugar, burnt, light cookie. Flavor is sweet up front, grains contrast as dry. Thin and sticky. Needs more flavor, better attenuation.

Draft at Barcade. Super dark brown pour with light head, very nice lacing sheets. Notes of caramel malts, light roast, milk chocolate, light hops, and coffee. Not much pecan pie in this one for me. Medium body. Just ok.

Bottle at Theis LA-box tasting. Pours an opaque dark brown with an off.-white head. Sweet and very bitter. Aromas of plastic and toasted malts. Medium bodied. Medium to high carbonation. Dry and yeasty finish. No good.

Bottle from Mane Liquor for Ryan’s ’wetting of the babies head.’ You can actually taste the pecan. Well pissed. Kinda sweet and very sessionable. Solid porter

Flaske, 75 cl, hos Yespr.

Ok. Disclaimer: I live in a part of the country where every yard has at least a couple of pecan trees and it’s not uncommon to see orchards that line the roads for a mile or more. Most of us pronounce this word as "PEA-can", not the "pub-CAHN" more common in places that don’t have pecan trees. Because of this, it feels immoral to pronounce the name of this beer in a way that makes the pun make sense. Other than that, a good beer. There’s some slight harshness in the finish. Really wish the pecans were more obvious, bit a good beer.

Pours clear dark brown color with tan head. Aromas of toasted malts, caramel. Toasted malt and sweet caramel flavor with some chocolate and nuttiness. Medium body with moderate carbonation and a slightly dry finish. A nice porter.

From a bottle poured a dark brown color and a small amount of head. Light toasted malty flavor with a lingering aftertaste.
