COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our new Pecan Pie Porter no longer uses extract, but rather brown sugar and pecans roasted by friends at The Gallows in Boston. Buddy Hadry, a rep at Bella Vista in PA, gave me the name for this beer, the second Pecan beer now that he has named. Thank you, Buddy!

Underrated porter. The pecan adds a nice slightly sweet and certainly nutty beer. Above average mouthfeel. Dark brown coloured body. Pleasant and slightly sweet aroma. Very good drinkability. Fun unique stuff worth trying for those not hung up on being purists. One of the best bottle labels of recent years.

Cola colored pour, tan head. Spice, light pecan notes, roasted malt, bready aromas. Flavor is sweet, a tad watery, some pecan pie spice notes, maybe a hint of maple. Ok.

Bottle. Pecan and dark corn syrup aroma. Dark brown with moderate head. Minimally sweet chocolate and roasted malt flavor. Mild pecan and bitter/ashy finish. Good straight forward beer - subtle.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Wilburís Fort Collins. Pours a dep brown/black appearance with a dark brown head. Anise, aramel, turtle dessert, chocolate, earthy, roasty malty, slightly grassy/herbal hoppy aroma. Roasty, slightly burnt, big anise, dark chocolate, slightly nutty, quite earthy flavor that finishes a bit watery. Kind of thin with a bit of bitterness on the finish but still kind of watery.

Bottle at home. Bitter roasted chocolate, dry, light salty pecan, could do with more nutty flavour but its not bad.

Bottle @ Home. Pours dark brown with a light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, rich dark chocolate, nuts. Flavor is rather sweet with malts, coffee, dark chocolate, nuts, little brown sugar, light licorice. Medium body, average carbonation, light dry finish with some alcohol. 120114

Bottle thanks to trade! Pours near black with a grayish brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has dark grains with some sweet chocolate and a hint of pecan. Flavor has more roasted malts with some sweet dark grains and a bit of pecan.

Wish list item bottled in October. Nothin wrong with it but not nearly as good as Iíd hoped. A decent chocolaty roasted porter with an additional unidentifiable sweetness that I can also guess was pecan. Didnít leave much of an impression."

Bomber from Caponeís. Pours turbid dark blackish brown with 1-finger tan head. Nose is black patent malt, nuts, cacao. Tastes rich, with a malty flavor up front (black patent), nuts, cacao, brown sugar, hops, and molasses. This one is rich and dense, but I wanted more nutty sweetness. As it is, it isnít bad, but comes off like a nut brown ale/dry stout hybrid with extra hops and patent malt.
