COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our new Pecan Pie Porter no longer uses extract, but rather brown sugar and pecans roasted by friends at The Gallows in Boston. Buddy Hadry, a rep at Bella Vista in PA, gave me the name for this beer, the second Pecan beer now that he has named. Thank you, Buddy!

Dark brown with ruby lowlights and a medium brown topper that fades away rather slowly. Aroma is up front brown sugar and pecan with coffee, dark roasted malts, sticky buns and a touch of bready malt. Taste of brown sugar, coffee, chocolate, nuts and mild pecans with an acidic finish.

Very dark brown near black pour with decent offwhite head. Big roasty semisweet nose with a strong clean nuttiness that is not vegetal at all. Flavor is similar, but has a coffee w/ creamer note too it. I wouldn’t have described this as pecan pie, but it is still a pretty damn good nutty porter. Awesome name.

Bottle courtesy pikapp327. Pours a dark brown color with a foamy tan head. Aroma is dry, roasty, sweet sugar and nuts. Light mouthfeel, roasty flavor. Maybe light pecan flavor but not much. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

bottle. near black with a small, stable, creamy light brown head. sweet nose with dark chocolate. great creamy, full body with low carbonation makes for easy drinking. flavor has notes of chocolate, a balanced flavor hop addition, and an odd vinous note. not much pecan, but i get a nutty bitterness in the finish similar to green walnuts. overall, it tastes pretty good and has good balance.

There seems to be some emerging debate about this beer. Perhaps it depends on the bottle, but in my case, this beer was quite good, and definitely rich. Very dark, nearly opaque pour. The pecan quality was very difficult to tease out of it, and warming didn’t bring it to light. Chocolate, roasted-to-smoke notes, some wood, all told a very rich and flavorful porter, with a body that veered to the edge of the stouts, with some carbonation but a rich, sweet, clinging oiliness. A light burnt bitterness at the finish. Really enjoyable, whether or not it has any pecan pie (except for sweetness). Bottle, with Thanksgiving dinner.

ben4321 (3559) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - OCT 21, 2013
Location: 22 oz bottle from Central Market, 10/21/13, 2013 Bottle

Aroma: The aroma is nutty, and sweet, with some caramel and roasted malts
Appearance: It pours a rich brown color with a small light brown head and some light lace
Flavor: The taste is medium sweet, fairly nutty, and a little roasty, with a mild earthy bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a smooth, clean feel, and a soft carbonation
Overall Impression: Pretty solid stuff overall. The pecans and brown sugar flavors are clearly there, but they are also subtle enough that the clean malty flavors can come through too. Fairly light and easy drinking for the style.

Aroma is yeast, nutty/roasted malts and spices. The flavor is nutty malts, a definite sweetness, an undercurrent of the roasted pecans and a mix of tart and smooth in the finish.

Bottle.
Pours a thick black with a pleasing nose of slick pecan, caramel, and toffee. Flavor is coffee, pecan, cocoa, and chocolate powder in a gooey, sugary syrup of nuts and butter candy. Average mouthfeel. I hate pecans, and I hate pecan pie even more but this was a pretty tasty brew.
