COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our new Pecan Pie Porter no longer uses extract, but rather brown sugar and pecans roasted by friends at The Gallows in Boston. Buddy Hadry, a rep at Bella Vista in PA, gave me the name for this beer, the second Pecan beer now that he has named. Thank you, Buddy!

If all this beer does is teach people how to say pecan properly (yes, it rhymes with Khan), then it is a success. Black pour with a large, brown head that recedes somewhat quickly. Nose is pecan, clove, spice, cinnamon, light earth, faint roast. Flavor is cinnamon, pecan pie, pecans, clove, vanilla, earth, roast. Full mouthfeel, with an ashy tasting medium bitter finish. I like how the smoke plays more of a back end note than a dominant up front flavor.

Bomber. Pours a thick dark brown with a mocha colored frothy head. Nice lacing. Aroma of brown sugar, pecans, and chocolate. Taste of roasted pecans and sweet caramelized brown sugar. Hints of salt and dark fruits. Has a dry sticky finish. Like eating a pecan.

Pours dark unclear with a decent beige head. The aroma brings some spices from the fall, but not pecans persay. The flavor brings a toasted malty porter with some bitter hoppy notes as well. The flavor of the pecans are not prevalent and there is some sweetness, not necessarily brown sugar though.

Thanks to hudsonphotog for sharing this bottle. The beer pours a dark brown to black color with a tan head. The aroma has a lot of chocolate and pecan notes, as well as some roasted malt. The flavor is similar. The heavily roasted malt notes really come through, but there is also a good bit of sweetness from the brown sugar and some nice roasted pecan flavor. All of the notes go very well together, with the sweetness and nuttyness melding especially well. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Very nice.

This is a very good beer with the pecan taste met with the maltiness of the porter. Enjoyed very much. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Doesn’t really evoke "pecan pie" for me, just a vague nuttiness behind brown sugar and roasted malt. But that’s actually better for me, as I’m not a big pecan pie fan.

From the bottle, deep brown with a thin but persistent tan foam. Chocolate and nuts and maybe a touch of charcoal. Body is full of smokey wood, chocolate, and a smooth buttery pecan finish.

Dark brown, almost black with a thin brown head. Aroma is a little nutty with a note of roasted coffee. Flavor is strong roasted malt, maybe slightly on the burnt end. The pecan flavor is light, but it’s there underneath the roasted malt. Overall, strong effort.

Bottle from Total Wine. Pours a viscous ebony body with a thumbnail of brown head that diminishes fast. Lush and velvety on the nose with a scent reminiscent of a chocolate malted milk shake. Flavors include caramel, cocoa bean, toasted nuts, bread, and subtle pine in the finish. Medium/full body and full carbonation. This is a nice porter with good flavor without being overbearing.

Bottle. This beer has a faint hoppy aroma which hints at its fairly dry character. I expected something sweeter with a thicker body. It is a good dry London porter - but where the Pecans enter other than a faint nuttiness in the finish I am unsure.
